The hotel is in a nice period building (which sadly needs renovation) near the Zoo with beautiful views of the Park and that is the only reason I stayed there more than once
I was shocked this time with their treatment of me as a customer! This time I booked late and they said the room they gave me (which looked inside courtyard with heater chimneys on 1st floor) was the only on available which is hard to believe? When I stayed the night but asked to cancel my remaining reservation for this reason the next morning, the young guy at reception who said he was reception manager that they would cancel it but “in exchange for that” they would want a “better review” from me this time?? Last time I had given them an average review because at check in Reception had sent me to the wrong room 3 times (in one there was someone in the room showering!!)!! I thought it was very inappropriate that he should say this and I asked to speak to the hotel manager but she seemed to be in agreement with him??!! I always give honest reviews good and bad where necessary but this attitude really made me decide never to go back to them again!

It is a period property and the rooms are well appointed with all the necessary amenities. The room was hood size with a nice view of the park. They left a tray with fruits the first night which was very nice. Staff are generally well meaning…
The hotel is very dated and needs a good make over especially the bathrooms. This time there were very inexperienced staff at the reception and I was given the wrong room 3 times! I had to go up and down 3 times with luggage and in one room there was a man showering! Reception did not even properly apologize? When I finally went into the room that I was assigned, I saw that the bath tub was dirty with hair all over it from previous guest! Again no apology no proper upgrade? If all these happened in marriott, I would be given the presidential suite!

My entire stay in Karslruhe was brilliant! Schlosshotel is clean, quiet, and has the friendliest staff. The breakfast was outstanding. You cannot beat the location near the train station and a short walk to the Palace. Old world charm meets modern. Well done, Schlosshotel.

Our room was situated opposite the zoo with a large living/bedroom area with opening patio doors. A very short walk from the train station (3 minutes) and also the hop on bus stop. The zoo is just across the road (if that is your thing). Easy walking to eateries and in a safe area. A flat easy 30 minute walk to the castle.

Nice breakfast, good size room
Room was 29.5c when I got back and air con not efficient. Following night left windows open to cool room as was told and still was 27.5 during night!! Uncomfortably hot! Was told all rooms on top floor overheat due to fact are in eaves of building.

The location is very good and the building has a wonderful architecture inside and outside. There is also a private parking right in front of the hotel.
The breakfast is ok as well.
To keep in mind that the hotel is not well maintained unfortunately - if they would invest in fixing it and giving it a little more care the hotel would probably be excellent.
The room was dated and we had to open the window when we entered the room as it was very hot an smelled like it an old museum :)
