Not far from autobahn
We booked last minute on Saturday and arrived c1900hrs (an hour later), whole place was locked and we had to call for out of hours reception. We were checked in and shown to our room, then shown the maze like way in/out as the main doors would remain locked - this was up and down stairs and through corridors which smelt slightly stale. We went out for dinner, on returning c2130hrs, realised that the bed had only a single duvet and only one set of towels in the bathroom. I tried calling reception but there was no answer; we found another duvet, but without a cover in the wardrobe, so used that, but we’re still short of towels for our showers. When I raised the duvet and towels issue in the morning, I was told it was because we had booked late - but if there was someone to show us to the room, she could have ensured it was properly equipped and if they could properly furnish a room they shouldn’t accept the booking. Breakfast was adequate.

Location was good for our particular plans. Easy to take public transportation.
We arrived around 9pm and couldn't figure out how to enter the building. The entrance door was locked, luckily we found a very nice lady at the beer garden to let us in (many many thanks to her for helping us)

I liked it was a historical building
There was a strange smell in the corridor upstairs on the way to the back exit.
The staff doesn’t speak English, quite kind though.

Hotel selected because of proximity to family living locally. Historical building with pleasant beer garden. Room small but comfortable. Helpful staff inspite of my poor German. Breakfast simple but adequate and served in the hotel restaurant. Easy walking distance to bars and cafes in a pleasant and interesting area of the city. Tram stop convenient.
No manned reception desk and gaining access to hotel on arrival was a nightmare. No restaurant for evening meals with food served in beer garden. Returning to the hotel in the evening required access through a rear entrance with steep stairs to the accommodation floor. While the hotel has a lift, without the main entrance being open, the lift is not accessible making the hotel unsuitable for any guests with even minor mobility problems. No air conditioning and room very hot until a small fan was provided on second night of our stay.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The shower was a nightmare. The shower head was broken, the shower curtain flies into shower and attaches to your body and it was way too small for comfort.
