Family owned and run. Always take care at breakfast and to inform you of the area. WiFi is great. Restaurant by the property is good value. Streets around the hotel are quiet and by a church and school. About 1/2 a mile from old town and great walk over the bridge to the steep Philosophers Walk.

Manager was great! Room was clean.Breakfast was reasonable and adequate.
The hotel is old and had no air conditioning or elevator but that did not really bother us. Within easy walking distance the only restaurant option was the bar associated with the hotel. After 9 pm there was no food there, not even prepackaged snacks. The restaurant was very busy and since we only wanted dessert they refused to serve us.

Great communication. Easy parking - arranged at the time of booking. Great reception. The room was fabulous. Very large. Clean. Beds and pillows super comfortable. Easy walk to everywhere. Just a great place to stay.

The rooms was basic but good size. Gold wifi. The brekfast was simple but tasty. No possibility to have an espresso.
Tiny bathroom. No aircon, the room was quite warm (in April). No lift.

This is a shining example of all that is good about German hospitality and family-style comfort. Generous rooms, wonderful breakfast, family-owned and operated. Full disclosure: I am Austrian so I am naturally at home with this type of small-scale hotel. Everything there feels "genuine", nothing like out the typical catalogue for hotel equipment like so many anonymous much bigger places, even if they sport more stars in their official categorization. But if you want to experience how it is to travel and "be" in Germany, than this is a place to go. Think of visiting a Ryokan in Japan.
