It is a lovely hotel, overlooking the river Elbe, close to the Hamburg suburb of Blankenese, friendly staff
For a 5* hotel to not have air-conditioned rooms, not even in the more modern annex is bad. I was there on the hottest day of the year so far and my room was sweltering. I had to ask 3x until they finally brought a fan
The food is very good, but we were a group of 20 in an overheated room, the service was very slow as they had only 2 staff

This is such a beautiful hotel, I have been there many times for business reasons and will go back whenever I can. I would definitely go for leisure time as well.
The only thing to say is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms

Lovely location, hard to beat in west Hamburg. Splash out on a room with river views and you will rewarded. That is why you stay at this hotel after all. Breakfast crew in main restaurant on top of their game. The restaurant at across the street had an amazing waiter, hard charging and charming. He should be running the place. He had hospitality in his blood.
Overall a mixed experience.
The reception’s staffs training needs re-imagining. Behaviour was between hopelessly trying hard and will-fully rude. Same with the bar area. Incredibly slow service even when empty. I understand that after Easter 2026 the bars management will change, not a minute too late. Some people simply do, but staff and
