location & standard of the property
reservations direct at the hotel is hard to reach. Nobody answers the phone during daytime. That’s why I went through booking.com
A 7,50EUR surcharge for Krabben to complement scrambled eggs as part of the otherwise included breakfast are bad joke for a hotel of this category.

waterfront location, close to where I needed to be
reachability of front desk / reservations unsatisfactory. It is a joke that they charge EUR 7,50 extra for a few shrimps on your scrambled eggs, where the breakfast is otherwise included.
Electronic door locks didn't work.

Staff were super friendly and helpful! My phone charger stopped working and they provided me with a charger without cost for the stay. Nothing was too much trouble!
We had a false fire alarm go off in the bedroom at 09:00 in the morning which took a long time to turn off.
We were overcharged on our final bill by 77€. A mistake which we had to chase up after our stay for a refund.

This historic hotel is a gem. I loved the ambience and old world charm of it. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. I will stay here again next time I visit Hamburg and I have already booked a room in the very beginning of February.

The View over the river was nice but the room had ceiling lights that were hanging loose with wires exposed.
Reception was extremely rude and very arrogant, I left the hotel feeling horrible. I booked 1 "large" double bed. I then received an email from the hotel saying they were not able to meet my needs, i replied with" what needs?" but was completely ignored by the hotel.
When I arrived the staff at the hotel claimed I had not booked the large bed but that was a lie as I had the emails to confirm it. Instead i was offered two singles pushed together. I was told nothing could be done because the hotel was fully booked & that was also was a lie. I was then offered an upgrade to the best room for a small price and I agreed. Unfortunately that room had lights hanging out of the ceiling with exposed wires.
When checking out the Asian receptionist wanted to argue with me about my stay. I asked three times not to talk about it, I just wanted to leave. Unfortunately her arrogance was stronger than the need to be polite. I left the hotel feeling angry unrested and just horrible.

Location is lovely, excellent view over the river. Very good Public transport links across river. Underground access provided safe access to wellness area. Staff were very nice and helpful.
The food was very expensive however it was fantastic.
