Hello, We stayed at your hotel during our visit to Hamburg from September 9th to 12th under the name Jiri Novotny. The hotel is very nice and in a great location. However, we encountered a problem upon departure that I would like to bring to your attention, as I own an accommodation business myself. When checking out, we asked the reception to arrange a taxi to the Altona port. We inquired about the price, mentioning that Uber was offering the trip for between 18 and 25 euros. We were told the cost would be similar. Before we could even sit down, the taxi driver was already looking for us, as he was waiting right outside the hotel. The driver, who was of Asian descent, told us the trip would cost 50 euros. We refused and started to walk away from the hotel. At that point, the driver became very aggressive; he tried to forcibly take our suitcases to load them into his car, claiming he had been waiting for half an hour and that if we didn't want to go, we had to pay him a 25-euro waiting fee. This was untrue, as less than five minutes had passed between our request at the reception and the confrontation with the driver. We immediately returned to the hotel and asked the reception staff to call the police. However, the receptionist who had ordered the taxi clearly knew the driver; we ended up leaving and ordering a taxi ourselves—one that picked us up on the very next street and took us to the port for 19 euros. This occurred roughly between 11:30 AM and 12:00 PM. It was a very traumatic experience, and I want to warn you to be wary of the collusion between taxi drivers and reception staff, who often share the profits. Ending our stay at your hotel left us with a bad impression.

The Barcelo is a very comfortable hotel. It's close to the main train station and the central shopping area. The staff are very heloful. It's a great base to explore Hamburg.

Location was excellent - walking distance from the railway station and in the old town. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was large.
There was a slight buzzing noise, from outside the room I think, that made it difficult for me to get to sleep.

The only inconvenience is the in-room charging. I had trouble to use wall outlets to charge iPhone and iPad. The staff was very helpful. They charged my phone at concierge.
