This 4-star Superior hotel is in the spa resort of Oberorke, in the southern Sauerland region. It offers a large wellness area with indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and free private parking. The partly renovated, nonsmoking rooms feature a TV, and a mini-bar, and special rooms are available for people traveling with pets. Bathrooms are en-suite and a bathrobe is provided. The large spa area at the Hotel Freund - Privathotels Dr Lohbeck includes 5 saunas, 2 swimming pools, a fitness room and a sunbathing lawn. Massages and Ayurvedic treatments are also available. Hotel Freund - Privathotels Dr Lohbeck is popular for hiking and cycling breaks here in the Kellerwald national park. The hotel had a lovely pool area, perfect for enjoying the sun and the breakfast buffet offered a wide range of options. The bar also had a diverse drink menu at reasonable prices, and free parking was a convenient perk.
The outdated rooms lacking air-conditioning were a letdown, especially during warm nights. The absence of quality toiletries was noticeable, as a single soap for hands, hair, and face fell short of expectations for a spa resort. Additionally, the expensive dinner buffet at 49 per person did not match the overall experience.

The spa & welness area were spacious and great. Evening dinner at restaurant l'Ami was excellent and the staff were very friendly
