Very decent, well-priced hotel not far from Essen main train station. The rooms were well-maintained, and the breakfast was both extensive and excellent.
Not much not to like. Essen is not the most beautiful city in Germany, nor is it located in the most beautiful part of Essen. But that's not the hotel's fault.

It is the second time I have visited the Essener Hof. The hotel is conveniently situated near the central station. The staff was very kind and helpful. The room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Perfect for my short stay in Essen. Until next time.
The price was quite higher in comparison to my last stay, but that had probably to do with the specific time of the year. Essen was quite busy at that time.

super convenient location, 2min walking to central train station. people here also friendly
a little bit noisy if you don't close your window at night - I don't mean the train noises but there could be loud people outside.

Fantastic Location Good size rooms Very clean
When I arrived my room was alread allicated to someone, even though I had even written an email in advance and got a good response. They then did not have a dounle room and so they gave us two single ros and so me and my wife had to sleep in different rooms. The poor guy at the reception did all he could to help and also another guy on the phone tried his best. Next day I was going to leave early for business and they promised to allocate us our booked room and MOVE OUR STUFF to the new room. When we came back, we had the room we booked for, but they still had not moved our stuff. The attitude we got from the staff was that of „dont care“ attitude. The Ladies on the reception were very „cold“. They looked like they were forced to go to work! As if that was not enough, at check out, I was asked to pay for breakfast, which I never took! Of course I redused to pay!
