The breakfast was amazing!!! The host was very nice. Also, I checked in after hours and they were responsive to assist. Host spoke some English.

The breakfast was very typical German and very nice. This is a quaint little inn. Very clean. Comfortable .
The street is noisy; ask for a room off the street if available.

I travel out of my way to stay here for the breakfast. It is my absolute favourite of anywhere I’ve stayed in Germany. The host is very friendly and the rooms are always clean and cosy.

Great location with several nearby restaurants and easy transport into Essen and further afield. We had one of the rooms on the top floor with a balcony, which is great for a small family.
The staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful.
Easy and plentiful free parking.
The breakfast became quite repetitive over the 2 weeks. It's not a buffet as such, instead a selection of breads, cheese, cold meats, etc are brought to your table. You can then add a fresh boiled egg if you like together with fresh coffee. Nice food, it just got a bit repetitive.

Very quaint, old fashioned hotel. Clean and comfortable.
The location worked for me, but for anyone looking to be close to the center of the city it is probably not the best option.
