the girl who welcomed us and checked us in was super nice and kind.
the bus stop is very close by foot.
reception's opening times were a bit weird, i've never seen an hotel not having staff members for half of the day during weekends...the bathroom smelled bad and wasn't very clean, lots of dust on the toilet paper holder. the price for saturday's night was extremely expensive and for sunday it was way cheaper, i don't quite get why.

The hotel is perfectly situated for the university, and close to a tube station. The rooms were recently refurbished (though the tiles in the bathrooms date back a while) and clean. The staff were super friendly and attentive. Breakfast was good.
The colour of the bathroom tiles was a bit of a shocker, though there was nothing wrong with them otherwise ;-)
The towels have begun to dissolve around the edges - would consider replacing them with new ones pretty soon. The bedding / sheets could do with an upgrade, too.

Breakfast was typical, but decent.
The young woman who was at the reception desk the morning of our check-out was concerned about the problems we had, and said she would mention them to her colleague, and I hope she does.
The price was right.
There was nobody at the reception desk though we came at the right time. And there was never anyone there until the next day. The instructions to get the room key were very confusing. I sent two emails requesting information on where to park when the small lot was full, and neither were answered. There was no coffee or tea in the room, something I specifically look for, and which it said was available in the main body of the listing. I would have asked for a kettle and a tea cup, but there was no one to help.

Warm welcome from the owner who did his best to talk french or english since my german is of poor quality. Really big room. Family atmosphere.
I had a 2 person bed for me alone but the duvet on the bed was really small. I had to park quite far the second evening (saturday) since the hotel is in a short dead-end street.

Its a perfect 3 star hotel, the room was clean , the breakfast was good. It is 1.5 kilometer to centre and christmas market.
I'll definitely be staying here again. Nothing to complain about the room.
Parking, if you come at night eventhough its free parking, there is no space to park, and some guests park taking two spaces, which was very annoying ! very inconsiderate !

Simple but super clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great value for money and it was super tasty. Had an event a block away so location was perfect. Easily recommendable.
The shower was not completely closed and there was no stoppers on the floor, so water went everywhere.

The staff were very kind, helpful, considerate, and friendly! The breakfast was also amazing with great quality of coffee and very fresh bread! The room is very clean, fresh, and well-organised. The location was so quiet, so I was able to sleep comfortably every night! Again, the staff were very kind and amazing!

Genuinely nice and helpful staff, very close to bus and train station, or less than 10 minute walk to the centre of essen full of shops and restaurants which was perfect. Has a car park at the back and a lift which is helpful.
Really nice buffet breakfast. A nice selection, well presented, it had something for everyone and great coffee machine and very cheap all for €8!
Room has pretty much everything you need, very comfortable bed and pillows and it was clean.
Rooms are a good size, lighter duvet and extra pillows provided.
Nice power for the shower, and a heated towel rack.
Nice big windows to open and also temperature control on the wall.
There's no tea facilities in the room. A little kettle, and tea/coffee sachets is needed because after breakfast finishes at 10am, you can't get a cup of tea until the next morning. Wouldn't cost much to put in, but it would make a big difference especially on cold evenings.
I had a double bed which was very comfortable but as I was on my own, there was only a single duvet cover on the bed. I'm sure the lovely staff would have given me a double duvet if I'd asked, but the duvet size should always match the bed. We are 3 larger sized people so that's why we paid extra for a bigger bed each.
Walls are a little on the thin side but it's not a hotel with people coming in late so you're not kept up overnight and I had a great night's sleep.
However, we would absolutely stay here again even with the above bits because the Atelier had the most important things - good service, good and comfortable rooms/beds, good breakfast and good location.
