I enjoyed my stay so much that I decided to stay an extra night. The room was very comfortable, and the food was excellent once again.

I really enjoyed my stay. The breakfast was delicious, and the hotel has a beautiful garden with lush green trees. Everything was very clean. Apart from that, the on-site restaurant was excellent — I had both my lunch and dinner there and loved it.
There was nothing I didn’t like — everything was even above my expectations.

The bed was comfortable and the room was a nice size. They had a great breakfast, though most of the baked goods were gone by 8:15 AM.
They would open our windows during the day, which let in spiders and humidity. The shower didn’t seal so the whole bathroom got wet, and it never dried due to the high humidity. The worst part was that you could hear all of the noise of the lobby, breakfast, and Reception from our first floor room. We got very little sleep.

A fabulous small hotel in Essen Borbeck. Peaceful location but nothing was too far away using public transport only. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn’t mind a little bit of walking.

Good breakfast, good selection. Staff made a real effort to make the stay enjoyable. We were at an exhibition with rooms requirements changing at the last minute, the staff really worked hard to move rooms around to make it work.

For me the hotel is in a convenient location. a 5 minute drive in to the town centre to do some shopping or the choice of 2 parks to easily walk to and enjoy the fresh air. The facilities provided are more than enough, and there is even a free sauna for guests.
Although the room is big enough and well equipped, it is very dated. I think the flooring had been replaced since my last visit, but the desk and wardrobes are very dated. The room had a shower over bath rather than a shower cubicle. It made it quite difficult to shower as the reach on the shower head wasn't very long, The water was also so hot that it can burn your skin off.

Quiet location and room. Comfortable beds. Parking area behind the hotel had plenty of space.

The service and the staff were great. Helpful and attentive. The food was lovely, well cooked and presented with a fair amount of choice. The dining area was not at all crammed, plenty of room between tables. Very smart and laid out with clothes and cutlery. Excellent presentation all round. Slightly high prices but I believe dining prices throughout Germany have risen dramatically over the last twelve months. They only had two main courses under 20 euro not including salads. The room was warm, quiet, and the bed very comfortable. It also had a mini bar which is a novelty in these times; also the mini bar prices were not unreasonable. The bathroom had all the items you could require for a stop over - shampoo, toothpaste toothbrush hairdryer... the whole works. German attention to detail, spot on.
The failings in my review for this hotel was the size of the room. They have tried to make a room the size of a single into a double.
There was only 300mm of space either side of the bed - which, typical of continental beds are not one double bed but two large singles pushed together? Why? Also the heating ran through pipes under a long 300mm wide grill beside the bed. There was no control for this heat and the grill was so hot you could not stand on it with bare feet so getting in and out of bed entailed climbing in from the end. This would not have been an issue if it was a single bed but didn't work as a double room. The curtain runners ran the width of the room yet the curtains were nowhere near wide enough to cover the glass and were pathetic in quality, like a pair of dish rags. The mini bar pump cut in continually causing a racket every five minutes. basically the fridge needed replacing it must be costing a fortune in electricity if this is the case for every fridge in the hotel. The wooden carved headboard with a shelve done nothing to aid comfort if you wanted to sit up in bed and read; in fact it was impossible to do so.
