rooms (beds, equipment, cleaness) for the price were very OK. thanks

Twin room booked at very short notice.
Some noise from building work next door. Not the hotels fault.

Disappointing
I payed an extra fee for a late check-out because I needed to sleep more, but the staff didn’t know about it and woke me up earlier than expected; then they couldn’t speak English so I couldn’t explained it was my right to keep sleeping till late morning.

The room was clean. In terms of price-performance, it was good.
The problem was the construction work right in front of the hotel — we couldn’t sleep at all. It started very early in the morning, around 5 or 6 AM, and after that, because of the noise from the machines, not only was it impossible to sleep, but even staying in the room became unbearable.

Perfect location (5m walk from Essen Hbf) with reasonable room rate.
Very friendly staff.
Many reviews mentioned that the hotel was noisy,
and I completely understood what they meant.
There was ongoing road construction right in front of the hotel
throughout my entire 10-night stay,
and the frequent sound of ambulances or police sirens
startled me both day and night.
I’m not particularly sensitive to noise,
so it was manageable, especially considering the room rate and location.

The location was mixed. It's close to the train station and center of town. The street, though, is rather seedy and unclean.
My only concern, which is important, was the housekeeper entered my room although I had the Do NOT DISTURB sign on my door. To her surprise, I was in there. I did report the incident to a manager.
