Many times when traveling to Dusseldorf, I opt to stay at this Hotel. I like the place, it is a small, comfy & cosy hotel. It has all the features of a business hotel, but I like the location and friendly personnel. Since I usually arrive at late evenings, it is always good to have a friendly Reception Manager to deal quickly with the formalities. It is very quiet in the morning. No rush & hassle of a busy city area. Reasonably good breakfast, fast & reliable wifi, large parking area.

Sadly, this is my first ever negative review on Booking.com and so it isnt great as I was unable to travel to the property due to poor weather conditions in the region ( 1-3 Dec, no rail service to either Dussledorf, Munich and Frankfurt and no flight service to these airports from Geneva) and the hotel failed to consider this aspect after numerous contact from me explaining the situation via phone and through booking.com messaging service and for the booking.com team to step in and request the same. The hotel did not contact me and it was after a whole 14 days that the booking was cancelled and sadly Hotel Barbarossa charged me for the cancellation fee. This situation was the same for a friend who was booked in at the same venue for the exact dates as we were meeting up for a weekend of Christmas shopping but due to the adverse weather conditions of a snow storm, we were unable to travel. We ended up losing our weekend and our money with Hotel Barbarossa and I still to this day cannot understand how the hotel could be negligent of the fact that I did not cancel through choice, weather conditions out of my control and the hotel ought to have considered this and out of goodwill, refunded the money. I also understand that there were several people who met the same unfortunate experience for the same weekend.

Convenient location to Klemensplatz. First room: Room was clean and cozy. Nice size bathroom. Second room: bed was comfortable.
First room: bed was not comfortable. We didnt realize hotel was closing for their holiday which was not an issue but the Second room: larger but not as clean and bathroom was smaller. Heat didnt work in bathroom.
