Unbelievably beautiful hotel. Sympathetic restoration of this former place incorporated every modern convenience. The staff were excellent, the facilities of the highest level. Basically? If you want the experience of Raffles, The Ritz or the Dorsett but at a price you can afford then this is the place.

This stay was not up to Kempinski standard. Waiting for 20 min in line for breakfast, 40 min for getting a cup of coffee, the New Year´s dinner nothing special. Huge disappointment.

+ great location next to Semper opera, Zwinger and historic city center (Altstadt)
+ historic building and nice room design and well decorated corridors
+ friendly staff everywhere
+ excellent fish restaurant
+ in room dining is friendly and fast
+ attentive housekeeping
+ the separate Paulaner restaurant in the same building has great nostalgic food such as ragout fin
- only fully automated coffee at breakfast - filter coffee may be the best option
- during the holidays all restaurant serves fixed menus only, but in room dining was great
- high room prices at peak season but fully understandable and value is good
