The hotel is in is a rather dodgy area. The floor my room was on smelled of chemicals. The room itself was clean but run down. The bathroom needs refurbishing. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming - no cooked breakfast, cheap food.

We liked the location, i.e. the fact that it's right in the center of the city and very close to the train station. We liked the politeness and willingness to help of the breakfast staff.
It's not a criticism per se, as the room was fine, but we noticed other rooms had carpet flooring, while ours had wood flooring. Perhaps our room was basic, and the others were more premium, I do not know for sure. Also, we landed in the morning, and the check-in was at 3 pm; as we were travelling with a toddler, we went to the hotel at about 1:30, and asked if we may check-in a bit earlier (it was only one hour and a half), but the receptionist or the supervisor (I don't know who she was) refused pretty bluntly. While I understand the hotel policy and was very clearly informed that check-in is at 3 pm, I had hoped for a more friendly approach, considering the above context.
