Overall, stay was fine. Very small room, but as advertised. Comfortable bed.
Signage on arrival is confusing as there is no Hotel Triton but Triquetta instead. TV programming also confusing as channels really start only at 300+ (as I found out by accident on my last day). Tiny sink.
My main criticism, however, is re/ undisclosed charges for Cologne's Tourist Tax for non-business visitors (5%; introduced in 2014). Both confirmations from booking.com and the hotel (which I reviewed on the spot first with the clerk and then the hotel manager several times) showed a price including all charges/extras and taxes with no reference to the Tourist Tax. Instead, one day before my arrival and 2 days after the free cancellation period had expired I received an e-mail from the hotel stating that a surcharge of 5% is to be paid. When I refused to do so the manager was called and referred to their T&Cs (AGBs) and declared that it was my responsibility to review these and to be generally aware of local requirements. My recommendation to rather update their confirmation form and to sort this out with booking.com was responded to that this has nothing to do with them as the agreement is between booking.com and the customer (fancy that!)... Needless to say that I didn't pay the extra charge and that I have no desire to return.

Hotel staff were amazing and friendly. The room I had was a double room and was nice but had no fridge (my two friends in the single rooms had fridges) the beds were very soft but was fine. The air con wasn't working and when I brought it up with reception I was told they were sorry that it wasn't working but it never got fixed. So really apart from thr AC I had a really nice stay here and I would recommend it.
