The privately run Mauritius Hotel & Therme is located in the heart of Cologne's Old Town, right next to the historic St. Mauritius Church. Our family-owned hotel combines modern comfort with a spacious 11 ft² wellness area – perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation. Our individually designed rooms are modernly furnished and feature a flat-screen TV, stylish bathrooms, and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. The wellness area of the Mauritius Therme – open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. – offers everything you need for deep relaxation: 6 different saunas (clothing-free use), a steam bath, 2 whirlpools, and a well-equipped fitness center. The indoor and outdoor pools can be used with or without swimwear. Sauna and pool areas are located on one shared, spacious level – ideal for a complete wellness experience. Please note: Access to the spa is only permitted for guests aged 12 and older. Massages and wellness treatments can be booked directly on site. Our rooftop terrace also invites you to relax and unwind in the open air. Culinary delights await in our restaurant, where we serve regional and international specialties. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kölsch beer in our spacious hotel bar. The Mauritiuskirche underground station is just 328 ft away – offering excellent connections throughout the city. The sauna complex was very good.
The hotel is split into 2 distinct parts. The main entrance and some hotel rooms and the sauna and an annexe which is iterallin the next street block and that is really bad. Wires and cables hanging. No facilities. You have to walk 200 metres in the rain and darkness to get to reception. The 2 parts are linked by the spa area but u can only walk through the spa from 07:00 to 10:00 in the morning with clothes on. It's a mixed sex naked spa! Normal for Germany, NL and Scandinavia! It's massively overpriced for the food exhibition we attended and we paid nearly 7000 seven thousand euros for 4 rooms for 2 nights and normally a room is approx 150. 00 euros. This is profiteering in the extreme. We had to stay in Koln snd we chose to pay it. So it's not the hotels fault that we paid so much. It was our fault because ALL the hotels in Koln area profiteer. It does not make it correct though if the city wants to attract business people. They call it capitalism I believe... Anyway the spa dominates the hotel and I would say to go for the spa but not the hotel or the restaurant. Rooms were not more than 3* at best. There is also a church that chimes repeatedly from 07:30

The reception and waiting area were very pleasant and comfortable to sit in. Although the neighborhood around the hotel felt a bit sketchy, the location itself was quite central and convenient for exploring Cologne. The restaurant area was decent, though it was located next to the pool, which meant a noticeable chlorine smell due to the open layout. One staff member in particular stood out — he worked in the bar area and was exceptionally kind and attentive, taking great care of us throughout our stay.
When we first checked in, we were given a room located about 200 meters from the main building, outside and behind the hotel. These rooms felt more like small one-bedroom apartments and looked nothing like the photos advertised for the room type we had selected. After raising the issue with reception, we were moved to another room — only to discover that it was already occupied. We had to return to reception yet again to be reassigned, which was quite frustrating. We spent three out of our five nights in that second room and experienced several issues, including a leaky shower, shards of glass on the floor, and a very noisy air conditioning unit. By the third night, the noise had become so loud that we could hardly sleep. We reported this at 6 a.m. to the night staff, who was very apologetic and promised to pass the issue to the day manager. However, when we spoke to the day manager later, she was quite rude and dismissive — even dismissing a refund we hadn’t requested, when we had just mentioned we paid a lot of money for the room and she said “well everybody pays for rooms.” Shutting us down straight away. We were eventually upgraded to a family room, which initially seemed like a nice gesture. The manager told us it had a lovely view, but in reality, it overlooked the roof of the spa, which was very noisy both day and night due to constant banging and humming sounds. While the larger room was appreciated, it also had maintenance problems: the shower was missing parts and leaked, and the bed was one of the most uncomfortable we’ve ever slept in. By this point, we simply accepted the situation as we only had two nights left, but overall, the experience was disappointing, and the staff seemed poorly coordinated.

This hotel was pretty cheap when I booked it. It was in a pretty good area with lots of shops 10 minutes walk away. Excellent transport is very close. There was a pretty good spa area that was €10 per day and you can hire a bathrobe, slippers and a sauna towel which wasn't that much money..
The bathroom was on the small size and smelled a little. The bed was comfy but I found the pillow too high. There were no coffee or tea making facilities and no iron and ironing board but they could be ordered. If you are a bit shy the Therme/spa area is no good for you.

The spa. The main reason we booked to stay at the hotel but you’re not allowed into saunas etc unless you’re naked. Which did not appeal to us hence we could not comfortably use the facility. No tea making facilities in the room, no free water and no ironing board, both of which is expected in a “4 star” hotel

Near the centre of the city, bed was comfortable.
elevator broken, floor of the room dirty, tiny bathroom, no parking lot nor garage despite displayed on the website, way too expensive for the experience over all.

Disappointing
The staff demonstrated exceptional friendliness and attentiveness, contributing to a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Service from both the waiting staff and the bar was efficient and courteous. We ordered a late night meal, which was well prepared, flavorful, and visually appealing.
Unfortunately, several aspects of our stay were less than satisfactory. The pillows were uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a proper night’s sleep. The rooms were not well soundproofed; we could hear footsteps from the room above, conversations and doors opening in the hallway, and even noise from the street late at night, which disturbed our rest around 2 a.m. In addition, certain facilities such as the spa required an extra fee, which was not clearly communicated in the advertisements. Parking also incurred an additional charge, and it would have been appreciated if this had been included in the booking price or made clearer beforehand.

The hotel was very modern and staff very friendly and helpful.
We were at opposite end of hotel to reception in what felt like a separate block and we were told we had to walk out round the footpath, rather than past the Spa to go to breakfast and get to reception. There was no kettle in the room to make a tea or coffee.
