The location is very nice by the lake and woods. You are very close to tram links. The #7 and #13 can get you into the centre very easily. The latter via changing and taking the #1. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a large choice of hot and cold food and fruit etc. my room was comfortable and clean. The windows open widely.
The a/c was ok, but in the extreme heat of the last week required keeping the curtains closed as well.

Nestled snugly on the edge of a lake in a beautiful green space, the Leonardo Royal was a quiet location close to public transportation, offering a delicious daily breakfast. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The room we had, 407, was spacious with a lovely view below of the lake and cafe. The wait staff and bartender were accommodating and pleasant.
Room 407 had immediate issues. The safe in the room did not operate and needed repair. Additionally, the Air Conditioning unit was not operating. No one was available after checked in to inspect/repair it. The receptionist, Sharin tried to help and put in an order for maintenance who did visit our room in the morning. He reset the safe and found the AC unit had not been turned on inside the ceiling. Once he flipped the switch, the room cooled a little, but the blower unit did not operate! Temperatures during our stay rose above 90° F! Sleeping in the room at night became hot, sweaty, and very uncomfortable. We tried opening the window but there are no screens and bugs began flying into the room. The next day, another receptionist sent a fan to our room which helped some. It was difficult to get a good nights rest unfortunately.

Wonderful lakeside location. Perfect for our needs.
Food quality had deteriorated a lot since our last stay. Asparagus meal was disappointing with potatoes that seemed warmed up from the day before. Cooked breakfast also below par.

The room was very generous and comfortable with a great view (back of the hotel) of a lovely lake and park. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was absolutely superb with an amazing selection of hot and cold food.
I couldn’t fault the hotel especially at the price we paid for the room.

This is a great hotel if you want to relax and get some rest. Whenever I stay in Cologne, I never choose another hotel, I’ve stayed here several times. It’s located right next to a beautiful lake and forest, making it very peaceful and quiet. You can go jogging, running, walking, or simply enjoy the peace. If you get a room with a lake view, you’ll have the best experience.
The rooms did not have the two single beds we had requested during the reservation process. Also, the hotel parking should be free for guests staying at the hotel, but unfortunately it isn’t.
