I found the hotel to offer a decent value for money overall. Despite being located right next to the airport, it is still reasonably close to Cologne's city center when travelling by car, which makes it convenient. The hotel itself is large and comfortable, with good facilities, and breakfast was acceptable, nothing exceptional, but good to start the day.
Upon arrival, the room allocation was incorrect. I had booked two rooms, one single and one double, and the receptionist did not notice this. My partner and I were given the single room, which was clearly prepared for only one guest (single bed, one pillow, one towel), while my friend’s room was prepared for two. This created an unnecessary inconvenience at check-in.
Additionally, the double room we eventually moved into had a strong smell of cigarette smoke coming from the bathroom. Even after cleaning, the smell persisted, including after the following day’s housekeeping. The bathroom was also an accessible, adapted bathroom, which, while important for guests who need it, was not an ideal setup for us.

Big room, couple minutes away from airport. Above all, thanks to the reception and the shuttle bus staff that picked me and brought me extra to the train station in the airport in night time, even these type of bookings normally include only pick up and drop off to airport.
Even it was a non smoking room, the room smelled of smoke quite a lot.

Information on best way to get from the airport. I ended up walking, which proved challenging even with Google maps.

Being an airport hotel it was very convenient to travel to Kohln - ANUGA exhibition daily , and the shuttle was always available to pick us and drop us back

It was very close to the airport. We arrived there by FlixBus and then the hotel arranged shuttle to pick us up and drop off the next day for our flight. I liked shuttles being quite frequent ~every 15 mins during the day if I remember correctly. They also arrange shuttles for late night/early morning flights. Definitely a stay for these kind of instances.
Room was also big and enough for a short stay.
There is no shuttle to the city center. Be careful on managing expectations when you are booking the hotel.
Breakfast was okayish. Could have been better.

The room was clean and comfortable. Shuttle service works on time and very convenient. It's very helpful especially if you have flight in odd times.
Location is far from city which if you're planning to visit Cologne in detail, it won't be applicable to you.

The airport shuttle was excellent. The driver was on time for me and helpful to me with my baggage. The room was very basic and disappointing. There was no bottled still water and very minimal ammenities-for example no shower cap, no tissues. The room was very tired, worn, dim, dissmal and dated. The carpet and drapes need renewing.The lighting was extremely poor and posed a safety concern as it was very difficult to see,read or be conscious of trip/fall hazards even when all lights were switched on.

Excellent location, just a 15-minute walk from Cologne/Bonn Airport, and very convenient with a free shuttle service to the terminal. All staff members were professional and courteous, especially Mohammed, whose warm hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine willingness to help went above and beyond. He truly made my stay comfortable and memorable — a shining example of exceptional customer service.
Parking isn’t free—about €15/day. A small misunderstanding with one receptionist (who mentioned she was new) was promptly and professionally handled by her colleague, showing great ownership and swift action.

We had one of the most upsetting experiences at Leonardo Hotel Köln Bonn Airport due to blatant racism and exclusion by a member of the hotel staff – an older white German man who acted as both shuttle driver and check-in personnel. Despite being paying guests and respectful tourists, we were met with coldness, rudeness, and a complete lack of basic hospitality.
First, he refused to assist us at check-in, abruptly passing us off to a colleague with no explanation. Moments later, we witnessed him warmly and enthusiastically welcoming a German family – smiling, helping, and engaging in friendly conversation. The contrast was stark and painful. He even shooed us away twice with dismissive gestures, offering no greeting, eye contact, or decency.
We felt humiliated and unwelcome, simply because we were not German. No one should ever feel lesser due to their background, especially not in a hotel that markets itself as international and inclusive.
This behavior is unacceptable in 2025 – it’s discriminatory, unprofessional, and must be addressed. I urge hotel management to take this seriously, train their staff in anti-discrimination and inclusive conduct, and ensure this never happens again. No traveler should face racism when all they seek is a place to rest.
Until then, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who is not white or local – the risk of being treated as second-class is real.

There weren't enough parking spaces even within a kilometer radius. The hotel charged me double for breakfast, even though I was only one person. The bill was incorrectly printed (for two people instead of one). When I asked, I was told it was my fault; I had filled out the booking form that way (I was one person at check-in, and it was obvious). The reception staff couldn't help me either.
