Advertising parking when actually there aren’t enough spaces in the hotel, had to park car at a distance from hotel. Managed to do online check in and payed for upgrade only to find out on arrival that upgrade not processed although payment came out of my bank account

The location was ideal for visiting central Koln and within walking distance of Rheinpark. It also offered car parking which was great. The room was comfortable enough if you’r just looking for a place to put your head down for the night.
Claiming the room has air conditioning would fail the trade description act - even on the coldest setting it merely recycled warm air. The hotel sent out emails for their online check in service which was duly completed, only to have to go through the same process at the hotel - it was all rather gimmicky (and didn’t work). They would be far better just employing a receptionist.

The property was close by to the train station and easily accessible to multiple points of interest, such as the chapel and the museums. The ease of check in meant that even if you forgot your key (or wanted to leave it inside the hotel room), you could come in and out using a digital key on the app.
The facilities were a bit small, and in some cases resulted in water leaking out of the bathroom when taking a shower. While this was easily covered with the bath rugs, it did ensure that the corresponding toilet area was wet. The check in process was a little difficult, since most was already prearranged online - except for actually encoding a key card with the correct room number, which meant having to check in again with staff.

Comfortable room
The room didn’t have a fridge, and it had too few electrical outlets.
But the main complaint I have is that the hotel did not inform us that we could have serious difficulties accessing the hotel on our arrival, because there had been a massive evacuation in the area where the hotel is located.
The evacuation was planned the day before, so the hotel had plenty of time to inform us and provide advice before we arrived.
Also, when we reached the blockages that would not allow us to reach the hotel I sent Whatsapp and e-mail messages to the hotel and did not get any answers.
Instead of a proper management of the situation, showing that the hotel cares about their guests, I got during the day of arrival, a message obviously fired by a robot, with an anticipated welcome message, as if everything was totally normal.
