Incredible location, super friendly staff and beautiful breakfast (spoilt for choice).
One morning when we went down for breakfast, all the coffee cups were dirty. They were all set up for use, but they hadn’t been cleaned. I only realised this after the coffee machine started to make the coffee. I then started turning several up the right way, only to find they were all the same. It was like someone had stacked the dishwasher and another person unstacked it and put them out for use without checking. Odd for a 5 star hotel.

The hotel is in a convenient location very close to the station and cathedral. The room was an OK size and located at the back so reasonably quiet at night (though delivery vans and rubbish collection first thing in the morning could be noisy). The bathroom was very good, with an excellent shower and toiletries in large refillable bottles. The bed was a little softer than I personally like but most would probably find it comfortable.
The room was far too hot when we checked in and when we tried to turn the thermostat down it went up, whichever way we turned the dial! They did offer to move us to a different room but having already unpacked and settled in we weren't keen on doing that so they turned off the system altogether. The room still got a bit hot (and this was in December!) but we controlled it by occasionally opening the window.
It would be good to have a couple of hooks to hang jackets - putting them in the wardrobe isn't viable when they're wet from rain, for instance.

Lovely hotel with friendly and attentive staff, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast.
The description of a room with a view was a bit creative since, yes, you could see the cathedral if you leaned around a corner and looked hard right.

Our stay at the Hilton Cologne was overall a positive one. The location is excellent—just minutes away from the train station, the Cologne Cathedral, and several Christmas markets. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds, and the housekeeping service is exceptionally thorough, ensuring a very clean environment throughout our stay.
Several aspects could have been improved. The reception staff were not very helpful and welcoming. Moreover, the breakfast lacked variety and richer options, and the restaurant does not serve food after 10 p.m., which is quite limiting for travelers. In addition, the overall facilities would benefit from better maintenance, as expected for a five-star hotel (the absence of a coffee espresso machine in the room was surprising, as a simple example).
Given these factors, the hotel does not live up to a true five-star standard, and the price is very high compared to the quality and range of services provided.

Location is optimal for everything. All the Christmas markets and traditional German restaurants are from 3 to 20 minutes by walk. Welcome apple was good. The room was silent and very good for sleep. The breakfast was good.
Well, it was generally below expectations from 5-star (according to Booking.com) hotel. The room was ordinary, the service was average, and the view was of the wall of the building opposite. The hotel contact number was unaccessible when it was needed the most.

The location
There was a convention one night and a wedding another night. Guests spilled out to the main area and it was very loud and we had to walk through crowds which was odd.

The facility was so poor, I can’t believe that 4 and 5 star hotel like Hilton doesn’t have any facilities in bathroom like toothbrushes, vanity or etc

Disappointing
Staff were really nice, it was understaffed though. I heard the breakfast staff saying they didn't have time to get a drink of water.
Beds were comfy. Location is very good, right beside train station and cathedral.
They overbooked the hotel, so had no room for us when we arrived at 1030pm. We had to go to another hotel on our first night so our next morning was spent moving hotels rather than relaxing. We still paid full price,. They gave us breakfast for free as an apology (coffee machine was broken, no plates were available to get food with, and it was severely understaffed and had very stressed workers). They also gave us a bottle of prosecco to the room as an apology that we didn't ask for (we didn't plan on staying in the room. I sent an email explaining what happened and how I wasn't really happy with it, they sent me an Ai generated response. Would recommend the Hyatt (where we ended up the first night). Better on so many levels.

As expected, clean, safe, well-located and with all the amenities required. Beyond expectations: all staff friendly and helpful but David at reception was particularly helpful and went the extra mile to ensure everything was first class.
