Handy location - Kln Messe station 5-10 minutes walk and tram stop directly outside. It's not city centre and really located to serve the needs of those attending various business conferences. However, it's value for money compared to hotels around the city centre on the opposite side of the river was a big plus. Check-in was good, we were allowed to check in at midday well before the advertised time. Lobby, lift area area and corridor to room all very pleasant. Room itself was clean, comfortable and bathroom extremely good. Tea / coffee facilities. Very comfortable bed. WiFi worked well. Breakfast was exceptionally good - extensive range of cold and hot food exceeding the standard at many chain hotels.
Bit of a queue in the morning to check out as it was busy with conference goers. Receptionist was showing signs of stress as on his own. Card transactions have the option of paying in local currency or the card's (GBP in this case). Receptionist selected GBP without my concent so had to get him to void the transaction and put through again in EUR.

The restaurant and bar were understaffed, thus causing long waiting times. There were a lot of issues with our booking, such as breakfast that was already paid for, being charged again. The highlight was when an order of chicken was brought raw and when signaled, they just took it back and literally cooked the exact same piece once again.

Rooms are a bit old fashion. We booked a room for 3 people and the 2nd bed was very small and unfortunately not very comfortable.
