The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good. The staff at breakfast and were attentive and professional. Nice shampoo, conditioner, hand was in the room. The location was great for the the central train station and 10 - 15 mins walk from most of the main tourist, dining, bar areas and amazing Christmas Markets.
The cleaner came to the room every day but the whole 4 days of our stay our coffee, sugar and creamer were not topped up at all. After 2 days we informed reception they were not being restocked (and I heard another guest informing reception of the same thing) and this made no difference. I had to visit reception every day to resupply our coffee etc. Breakfast was great but we found out on our last day there that if we had booked our breakfasts each morning they would have cost 19 Euro and not the 23 Euro we paid. We were not informed of this on check in at the reception desk. On the first morning (Sunday) we did book in as were were informed we had to book in on a weekend. We were still charged the full 23 Euro. We stayed 4 days and had 8 breakfasts in total, all at the full price of 23 Euro. We also had a mix up on check out where they wanted to charge us for another breakfast that we had already paid for. Our friend had the same issue with breakfast charges when she tried to check out (she had also paid already).

Comfy beds, helpful staff
Kitchen was not open at stated time on 2 consecutive days at lunchtime. On Sunday it was meant to be 12 but was delayed till 1pm for lunch, and Monday delayed till 2pm! Were told water not safe to drink from taps, given a carton in room on day 1, had to ask for one day 2, gave up day 3 and bought a bottle at supermarket.

The room was a typical standard hotel room. (I received a communication to say that we had been upgraded but I didn't think it was a delux room.) It's a 10 minute walk from the central railway station and convenient for the centre of town. Breakfast was a good buffet and the breakfast room was nicely laid out and spacious.
We arrived at 10:15pm which was later than expected. It turned out that the kitchen had been closed since 2pm on that Thursday, so as advised by reception, we had to make do with some crisps and chocolate bars for supper which was purchased from the snack area, mainly because we had had a long day and were too tired to venture out looking for a meal. There is no room service at this hotel. You have to buy water to make tea after the first day and they do not replenish the tea making facilities (or at least they wouldn't for us we were told, as we were only staying 3 nights). We had problems with the mobile phone charger but didn't think it was worth reporting it. We were overcharged on our invoice and I hope they will refund the money.

Glass toilets ! there is no privacy . Not nice hearing your partner go to the toilet the other side of the bed !! Location to markets not great . Too far from everything . walking from hotel into town on my own was a bit frightening , with the underpass and approach to station and the beggars . Hotel is nice but the area around it is unpleasant . Taxi drivers would not accept fare as hotel too close for making money , so on a very wet , cold night had to walk the twenty minutes ! Not impressed . WiFi awful .

What pleased us the most about the hotel was its location. It was 900 meters (about a 15-minute walk) from the Cologne Cathedral and the Central train station. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean.
We didn’t like the dinner. We recommend eating out or just having a snack instead. The bar was enjoyable — you can have a beer there.
