Location is really close to the main train station (and the cathedral). Although the area around the train station is a bit chaotic the hotel itself is in a relatively quiet area. The river is about a block away too. A short walk along the river takes you to the more touristy areas and if you walk a little bit further you end up at the Lindt Museum. The room was fantastic. I'm not sure if there was an issue with the room we had booked but there was some delay at check in and when we received our room it was MUCH larger than anticipated, so we may have been upgraded a bit? Would not recommend breakfast as it was incredibly expensive. MUCH cheaper to just go to a nearby bakery or cafe and have something to eat there. We did have one dinner at the restaurant and it was OK.
Breakfast is unreasonably expensive. Think it was 30euros? I could never eat that amount of money's worth of food for breakfast. The spa / gym area seemed a bit like a dungeon and was not very welcoming.

We used the hotel as a stopover travelling from the UK to Denmark and so its location close to the train station was ideal. We were shown a warm welcome on arrival and were given a great room. The bar staff were super helpful and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic!

The hotel was more expensive than we had planned but as soon as we got into the room we realised it was worth every penny. The breakfast was amazingly good. Couldn't think of anything missed there, just every type of food you could wish for and and an on-hand chef ready to cook anything you wanted how you wanted. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and what is more they came across as genuinely helpful and friendly. We asked if we could store our luggage on the last day for six hours and they were happy to do so in their dedicated locked storeroom without any charge. When we looked around the city and saw some of the hotels that were only a little cheaper we realised how lucky we were to have booked the Marriott. It truly was on a whole different level. Will always consider the Marriott from now on.

Location is 10/10. All staffs were kind and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable. Really enjoyed breakfast and the bar.
It was very warm and humid in Köln when we were staying, but the air conditioner in the room did not make it much cooler as it was very old one. Also, they charged 100euro of deposit when we checked in, which was never mentioned anywhere, and it has been 5days since I checked out but I still haven't received it back.

The breakfast was a very big spread and we loved it.. plus the location and the overall staff be it at the bar or the grill or the house keeping or the front desk.. very warm and helpful .. and even though their gym was under renovation they had organised s temporary studio which I felt was very thoughtful..
Just one person at our check in on day one cudve been more upfront rather than beating around the bush. But tht was taken care off well by his colleague: a young lady..

The staff are amazing - so helpful and friendly.
Our room has a slight smell - but the amazing staff at reception moved us to another room. The gym was being refurbished which we didn’t know prior to booking. A shame but the lovely staff made up for this.
