This guest house is quietly located in the wine-growing village of Klotten, 492 feet from the River Moselle. Pension Dorfschänke offers free Wi-Fi and a rustic-style restaurant. Breakfast Only?
We arrived to a welcome hello by Christina & Bert. Which seemed promising, we were allowed to park our car behind the hotel as we were the only other guests apart from one other staying there. We took the oppurtunity to have a meal in the restaurant as it is not often you get a restaurant at a hotel, we had Steak & Chips overpriced for what it was cost us close to 60.00 Euro's we thought why not. After a few beers we retired to our bedrooms, when I am the booking I requested a room with a view, not a room with a Loft window where you have to stand on a chair in order to see out, the room itself was a shoebox size not worth the price of 228 Euro's for a 3 night stay far from it, what with the added bonus of a sleepless night's thrown in. I will try to explain they have a Compound Toilet that is plugged into the mains, unlike normal toilets when you flush it, it stops immediately this one carries on then stops and 5 minutes later flushes again by itself and does the cycle throughout the entire night, After the first night I complained to Bert as you would and he replied saying it has never happened before (Yeah Right) I requested that we be moved to alternative rooms and he replied no rooms available even though we were the only guests, Bert replied I will fix it, it carried on the entire time we were there. At Breakfast on our second day of our stay we were informed that the Bar & Kitchen would be closed for the remainder of our stay and we would have to look elsewhere for food. Not so much a Hotel now more of a B&B but they are still happy to charge the Hotel Rate for your stay, in all the Hotels I have stayed at this is the first one I have seen that the Hotel Hosts have completely Disappeared from sight and closed down the business, all the shutters came down like it was the end of season.

Biertje and Christina welcomed us to their lovely hotel and nothing was too much trouble. They saved our parking space outside which was really fab! But there is additional parking at the side in a small garage. Only issue is you might get blocked in but I assume they will help if that were to happen. The main bar and restaurant is located at the front of the building and then the rooms are located at each side of the outside. Easy to get to and if we had any special recommendations I’m sure they would have accommodated as best as they could. Breakfast was great, fresh croissants, ham, cheese, eggs, yoghurt, tea, coffee and juice all provided. Nice atmosphere in the evenings when we returned to the bar, and all of the guests were really lovely and friendly! Location was perfect for us, as we were visiting our family just 10 minutes up the road ? the price for two rooms was very reasonably priced, we weren’t expecting the ritz but everything was spotlessly clean, beds were comfortable and the view from my window was especially lovely! All in all we had a really wonderful trip and this little hotel made everything that much easier. Thank you again and we hope to come back again! ?
Not a big issue for us, but the step up to the shower in room 3 was a bit high. Thankfully my father is quite agile for a 66 year old! But might be an issue if you have mobility issues, I’m sure they will accommodate if you let them know of any special requirements though!

Overall the hotel was perfect and the evening meal on the terrace was a real treat, Thanks Christa was looking after us, you were great. Breakfast was good and all you needed. Appreciated the safe parking for the motorbikes and one less thing to worry about. Will certainly come again!

Very Good
Check in and check out was very smooth. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a great dinner in their restaurant, which is of good quality. The breakfast in the morning was diverse and delicious. We had a great stay.
The bed was a little too soft for our taste.
