Exceptional
Beautiful historic location. Not near anything so be prepared to just enjoy the peace and quiet, about a 15 minute drive to the nearest town of Weimar, if you want to go out for dinner or drinks. The castle restaurant bar is satisfactory, but is empty at night.
Just a bit too isolated for me. Very few guests stay around the castle grounds in the evening so it becomes a bit of a ghost town.

Location Sauberkeit Nice view
We had breakfast included and wanted to enjoy it by having it in the outside area. Every day, we were told that there is dirt on the chairs and tables or it is wet because of the rain. They simply didn't want to clean or wipe the tables and chairs. When we pay for the breakfast, we would like to enjoy it to the maximum and not to be told that chairs and tables are wet or dirty. There were some tables under the roof and they were obviously not wet but still they were unwilling to let us sit on those chairs.

The setting here is unique, with the hotel and restaurant being in an 18th century schlo. The gardens and surrounding park are wonderful. The room was recently renovated and more than adequate at a fair price. The restaurant was great for both dinner and breakfast.
Parking is a bit away from the schloss, but luggage can be dropped off before parking (would have been nice to know beforehand). There is no AC but fortunately it cooled off enough that we could sleep comfortably. That may not always be the case. Friendly staff but the restaurant could have used more staff. The one waitress did her best but was always on the run.

Pleasant
Good starting point to visit Buchenwald. Quiet place with beautiful views on the woods. Comfortable & clean room.
Hospitality of personnel was below par. Perhaps due to their rather poor knowledge of English (and my weak knowledge of German)? The castle/hotel was renovated in a rather uninspired way.
