Very uncomfortable pillows and we informed the staff about a dirty bed skirt and asked for it to be cleaned but nothing happened. We did not mind as we only staying 2 nights but it was still not a nice experience.

I’ve stayed at this hotel 5 -6 times and have always left outstanding reviews. The location is fabulous and the breakfast is great, big reasons I keep coming back. Unfortunately, my most recent 3-night / 4-day stay was let down by the reception team.
On arrival, I greeted the receptionist with “How are you today?” and got a blunt “Don’t ask.” Not a warm start. I was told no rooms were available and to come back at 3 pm (I’d just come off a very tiring flight). I sat in reception for a coffee, and about 15 minutes later I checked with another staff member who immediately found me a room. That inconsistency made me feel the first person just didn’t want to help.
Throughout the stay I also noticed little willingness to help with city guidance or things to do—quite a change from previous visits, when the team was genuinely helpful and personable.
Bottom line:
Pros: Location, breakfast, and (historically) reliable stays.
Cons this time: Cold, unhelpful reception that set the tone for the stay.
Front-of-house can make or break a hotel. I hope this was a one-off and that the high standard of service returns—otherwise I may try somewhere else next time.
