Disappointing
The hotel has a great location right in the city center, yet it is surprisingly quiet, which makes it very comfortable for sleeping.
However, during our three-day stay the room was not cleaned even once, and even the trash was never taken out. For a three-star hotel, this level of housekeeping is simply not acceptable. With better room service, the overall experience could be much better.

Reception area is not open according to hours posted on the website. It say open 8 am to 10 pm. Closed when we arrived at 8pm. Next morning sign said won’t open until 10am that morning. Check out is posted as 10 am. I now understand that this is a family run business but the hours posted should be kept. Also the room for 3 adults had 2 beds that were practically on the floor with very thin mattresses. Was ok for my 19 year old sons but if I was traveling with friends it would not have been acceptable.

The hotel staff were very attentive and helpful, allowing us to stay with peace of mind. It was close to the TV tower, Museum Island, and the subway station, and there were many delicious restaurants nearby, yet it was quiet and in a great location. The room was spacious and very comfortable.
I overlooked this, but if you were staying multiple nights, you had to request a towel change at the reception.

Disappointing
The single but very significant complaint is the lack of functional WiFi over the period of our stay. This was made worst by the very poor mobile reception our room 2.01 had. It effectively made working or video calling impossible. Signal was very intermittent making it useless. And looking over their past reviews it seems this has been an ongoing problem… otherwise it’s functional and well located. Good shower

I'm of the opinion that pushing two single beds together does NOT equal a double / queen bed. You can't properly sleep in the middle because there's a gap. If you're going to advertise double / queen / king beds than you MUST use proper ones and not cheat the system by saying it's a double when it's really two singles pushed together.
Also, the comforter should be large enough to COVER THE ENTIRE BED. This nonsense in Central / Eastern Europe of pushing beds together and using tiny comforters for each person in the bed IS STUPID. You're the only people in the world who do this. Please join the rest of us and use proper size beds and comforters.

We stayed at Hotel Nikolai Residence for two nights. The hotel is perfectly located — close to the metro and right on the museum island, which makes exploring Berlin very convenient. We received very clear and detailed check-in instructions and had no difficulty accessing our room. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the linens and towels were fresh. There is also a kettle and a small refrigerator in the room, which is convenient for keeping yogurt or small items for a light breakfast. The team always responded quickly to any questions we had.
However, booking this hotel introduced a few surprises for me. The first was that the payment was processed by Arbio rather than directly by Booking.com, even though I entered my card details on the Booking platform. At first this made me slightly concerned, but I later learned that Arbio is a property management company operating hotels in Berlin. It might be helpful if this information were made clearer on Booking.com.
The second surprise was receiving a notice one day before arrival about a €250 security deposit authorization. As someone who travels frequently, I had not encountered this before. After carefully rereading the booking conditions, I realized that the deposit was indeed mentioned in the “Important Information” section — it was simply my oversight for not noticing it earlier.
Since this system was new to me and I wasn’t sure what to expect, we were extra cautious during our stay and even avoided using some of the amenities provided in the room. The fact that the deposit would only be released 7 days after check-in was also unexpected for me. Fortunately, everything was resolved smoothly, and the deposit was released exactly as stated.
My advice to future guests: read the booking conditions carefully to avoid unnecessary stress and simply enjoy your stay.
