The location is great, very near Tiergarten S-Bahn station and Spree river. The breakfast was delicious and cofee was good. Very quiet neighbourhood.
I booked standard room, the hotel pre-authorized my credit card prior to our arrival, but there was no clue on the website or in other guests’ comments that it would be on the ground floor-almost beyond the street level! If I knew that such rooms even existed I would never choose such a hotel!The bed was uncomfortable, the blanket was shabby. Blinds didn’t work. Above all, our room was not cleaned properly for 4 days upon our arrival, towels were changed only after I have complained-after 4 days! No toiletries, shower caps etc. in the bathroom. I understand that the crisis hit Germany, too, but I did not expect such “savings” at the expense of the guests. Like we were in DDR

Great location. Managed to walk around to most places we wanted to see in Berlin. The restaurant beside the Tiergarten station was also great. Loved the chicken schnitzel. Breakfast was also solid and the staff were incredibly kind. Was great that they where there 24/7 so we could check in/out whenever.
Lift was broken so we had to walk up the stairs which was fine for us but might be a problem for some.

Very friendly staff, large comfortable room (hotel is located in an old building with high ceilings and wooden floors but modern bathrooms). The outside of hotel can be a bit off putting as it requires continual maintenance being an old building with wooden windows and doors etc but once inside it has a special charm. Really well situated approximately 150 m from a S-Bahn and a U-Bahn metro station. Excellent breakfast spread, tea station in room, safe in room and good WIFI were all plusses.
The lift was out of service for the full week that we were staying there and our room was on the 4th floor but this was really only an issue on our day of arrival and then again when we departed as our heavy bags had to be lugged up and down the stairs.

It was close to the metro.
The shower was too small, I got a first degree burn on my arm while showering because it was too tight and I accidentally touch the shower faucet and it was too hot. Also, in the morning I notice a stain on the mattress.

This is definitely not a chain hotel. I enjoyed the art that was on display everywhere, including a number of pieces that had been especially made for Hansablick by an artist guest. The room was quiet and nicely furnished. The bathroom was a bit old-fashioned but worked fine.
I was very gratefull for the kind members of staff who carried my suitcase up and down the stairs -- the elevator was broken during my stay.
