Near Templehof airfield and was really cool area and the facilities were great. 4 bed rooms were spacious and the breakfast was basic but no complaints with it in the price. Easy for a backpacker

I am an experienced traveler and have stayed in mixed-gender dorms all over the world (over 30 countries). I am generally very comfortable with dorm accommodation and have never had an issue like this before. From the beginning, the atmosphere in this hostel felt off. I was assigned to an 8-bed dorm that was almost empty, with only one other guest present at the time. The room smelled very bad, and I felt uncomfortable being alone as a young woman in a nearly empty dorm with one much older male guest. This is not about age itself, but about being alone at night in an almost empty room, which can understandably feel unsafe. I calmly explained my concerns at reception and asked if a room change was possible. The staff initially reacted kindly and moved me to another 8-bed dorm, assuring me that it was completely empty. I appreciated this solution and went to bed. However, shortly after midnight, another older male guest entered the room, explaining that reception had reassigned him there because the original dorm (the same one I had been moved from) was too loud. He had also been told that the room would be empty. While this guest himself was polite and respectful, the situation was again uncomfortable and could easily have been avoided. I went back to reception to clarify the situation and was met with a dismissive reaction. The receptionist spoke to me in an aggressive tone, repeatedly saying things like “you booked a dorm, not a private room” and implying that my expectations were unreasonable. At no point were my safety concerns acknowledged. I was even told that staff “couldn’t be bothered” to address noise issues in the original room, which is concerning from a guest care perspective. The following day, I decided to leave and cancel my second night. When asked for feedback by another staff member, I calmly explained the situation again. Unfortunately, the response was once more defensive and lacking empathy.

It was exactly what we needed for a competative price. I ranked as 10 not because it is a 5-star hotel, but because you get what you ordered for a price that it costs. I wanted a clean and comfortable room, which is close to a metro station in a specific district and I was satisfied with everything.

There was one staff member who was working at the reception in the morning of January 2, he was very rude to my family and showed an undesirable attitude when we asked to grab our bags from the storage.

Everything from the price to the location of this hostel was perfect. The rooms were clean, the shower facilities and toilets were clean along with the building in general. For the cost of staying it is excellent value for money. I love the fact there are transport links within seconds also.
