We stayed in the apartment. It was huge and one of the most unique places we have ever stayed. It has absolutely amazing views and is very close to the Rathaus and shopping areas. It has a kitchen and dining area and multiple sitting areas and has beds to sleep 7.
There are three flights of stairs up to the apartment, one of them being a spiral staircase. The shower curtain in the small bathroom didn’t adequately keep the water from spilling out of the bathtub. Watch your head! There are some low ceilings in places.

Location is excellent! The room is big and very quiet at the night. Breakfast is very-very atmospheric. I recommend this hotel for couples without kids.
A lot cold in the room, maybe because it's Palais and not a ordinary hotel. In the room that we have ordered the additional bed for the child was not an option.

Excellent location. The best in Bamberg. The hotel is in a former nobleman's town house and some of the rooms are very ornate and impressive. Breakfast is good and the staff are helpful.
The beds are a bit hit-and miss. It should not be difficult to supply a double bed with one double duvet. The bedrooms themselves vary from fine to absolutely stunning (for an increased price) but you could end up with two single beds pushed together - which then divide and split open if you are in the middle, or you might get a proper double bed but with only two small single duvets so again you end up cold and uncomfortable. What is so difficult about providing double-beds with double duvets? It is a pity about the beds as they always let this hotel down

The room was as clean as it gets! There was no dust at all, including the part under the bed, which made the stay especially comfortable.
Surprisingly, the breakfast has successfully beaten our impression of the room. Since we were the only guests in the hotel, we weren't sure what to expect, however we were treated as royalty, including all possible types of food and beverages, while sitting in an oldschool, baroque-like environment.
Minor things could have been better, such as damaged parts of the room and us waiting for 20 Minutes to be let into the hotel, yet those were easily forgiven.

The staff was particularly friendly and helpful. The building is very beautiful and the location is really central, which was perfect for what we had to do. The room was vast. Good pumpernickel bread for breakfast, lots of cheese and salami if you like a salty breakfast. Quality tea as well.
The white curtains do not stop the sunlight effectively so you can't really continue sleeping after 5:30 am in June. If you are allergic to feathers you will need to ask for the pillows and blankets to be changed (it is the second time we have experienced this in Germany). One night our neighbors decided to get noisy past midnight but as we knew there was no one at the reception desk and no phone in the room to call them, we resorted to earplugs. The other two nights were peaceful, though.

Smack in the center of town, very convenient with parking acommodation within very short walking distance. Too bad that the bar is only open on Thursday and Friday (personnel shortages I believe). Hotel has a very nice courtyard.

Wonderful
We had a lot of fun. The breakfast was wonderful and we especially liked the background classical music. We really enjoyed spending a night in a castle.
We arrived at the accommodation only at 20.00 and it was a bit difficult to get the key and hotel information.

Location was excellent for the old town.
The inner courtyard was a peaceful place to relax and have a drink or snack away from the crowds.
Breakfast was excellent.

Old manor house in the historic center of Bamberg within walking distance of the ramparts and cathedral. Beautiful stucco ceiling in the breakfast room. Nice court yard. Friendly staff.
It is not a hotel for elderly people. There is no lift and no porter to bring luggage upstairs. The hotel is difficult to reach by car. One has to drive through a pedestrian area and unload the luggage in the street. There is a decided lack of staff. The receptionist also serves the breakfast or helps out in the café/bar. The breakfast is uninspiring. The furnishings do not match the grandeur of the building, unfortunately.
