Pleasant
Central location
If your idea of a five-star experience is stepping into a perfectly preserved Soviet-era time capsule, this may be the place for you.
Do not rely on the room photos. The rooms are very small, with shower-in-the-bath setups and fully carpeted floors that feel dated rather than charming. The Art Deco elements are mildly cute, but ultimately underwhelming, especially when weighed against the overall service and facilities.
The much-publicised breakfast is genuinely poor, closer to an airport lounge than anything approaching a four- or five-star standard. Worse still, if your room includes breakfast, you are not permitted to order from the regular menu. You must eat at the trough provided.
Staff are polite but entirely devoid of warmth or any sense of hospitality. Interactions feel transactional rather than welcoming.
The only real positives are the location, which is convenient to the Old Square, and the fact that the hotel is adequately heated.
In short, nostalgic in the wrong ways, disappointing in the ones that matter.

The Wi-Fi was often weak. Adding a scent diffuser in the lobby could improve the overall atmosphere when entering the hotel.

The location was superb. Close to Public transport and the entire city and tourist attractions on foot. The staff was kind and helpful. The breakfast area and cafe had a lovely decor attracting outside visitors.
There could have been a bit more choice at the breakfast and more regular fill ups of the food as there were relatively long intervals between fill ups.

Temperature control of room was challenging to set. Room was too cool, then too warm. Pillows were too firm. Options for soft and firm would be appreciated.
