Wonderful
With PV/Cocles too busy/crowded and ‘end of road’ Manzanillo delightfully sleepy (but furthest from surf spots and conveniences), Hotel Shawandha was a perfect locale between and next to Punta Uva. Loved the peaceful decor throughout property (lots of stone Buddhist relics, overall colorful asthetics, nice villas, chill music by front area/bar/breakfast, very good breakfast). Beautiful pool/tropical grounds.

From my experience, the rooms are great. You literally will sleep inside the jungle. The rooms are cool and make you feel part of the nature. The breakfast has a wide variety of options and is delicious.
Unfortunately, I traveled with my family, and there are two elderly adults. Comfort is important to them. The beds are very noisy. Any movement will be heard by your companions. The room is quite open, so it receives a lot of natural light; you'll get plenty of sunlight from very early in the morning. The biggest problem for them was the bathroom, which is practically open to nature and offers little privacy (you could be seen while showering or using the toilet by other guests).
Again, for me (I'm 29 years old), except for the beds, it was very nice. But if you're traveling with elderly adults, this is something you should be aware of. The bathroom issues are something you don't see in the photos.
Something they really need to improve is the pool/beach towel service. Most of them are stained, and they only let you use one per day. You can't change it during the day. This is ridiculous for the quality of the hotel.
Also, if the hotel is very full, they could have service problems. The day we went, the breakfast was practically empty. We had to keep asking them to refill the food. The girls were very friendly and did their best, but it was clear they needed more staff. Also, when we asked for towels, the manager told us, "You have to wait until the kitchen staff finish cleaning up after breakfast; it'll take about an hour." No comments.

This lodge is gorgeous!! Makes you feel like you are with Tarzan and Jane right in the middle of the jungle. Great location just a few minutes walk from a lovely piece of beach, close to walking from restaurants and just a few minutes walk drive to Puerto Viejo and the Jaguar Sanctuary.
The midges!! You definitely need insect repellent for sitting the beautiful deck of your personal cottage!

The grounds were beautiful and it’s a perfect distance from the party scene that’s closer to town. Quieter area!
The beds were the most uncomfortable of our entire 2 week trip. Truly awful sheets, flat pillows and beds that creaked every time you moved on its stone hard mattresses. The non-stop leaf blowers were too much! It went all day everyday scaring away animals and taking away from the peaceful nature surrounding you. For the money, there are much better options nearby.

Everything! This place is amazing! Insanely beautiful garden with wonderful rooms and spacious bathrooms. The ultimate getaway. Enjoy the pool or just relax in your hammock. Amazing place to just listen to the sounds of wildlife!
I loved the sounds of the animals but some soft souls may need a heads-up about the hauwler monkeys.
