Decent price. Great location. Hot water.
My private room (Honeymoon Suite) was a glorified tree house. Entering through a trapdoor up steep steps not great for guest with a bad back and luggage. The lock on the inside of the room was just a wooden latch. I know CR is very safe but as a solo woman traveler I didn't like that. A bat flew into and around my room. There was no mirror or place to hang a towel.

Very Poor
The only good thing about this place is the location.
This place is sketchy and dirty looking. I've found out by locals it has a history of homophobia. There's one person at the desk to help 20 people checking in. Awful and rude, they just kept me waiting and waiting. I did not stay there.

Pleasant
The hostel is nicely decorated and has a good vibe.
Direct access to both the beach and the jungle, which makes the location truly special, pleasant walk around the property especially on the beach side.
They rent cruiser bikes in place, with locker included, good price.
The room had a strong smell of humidity, which could likely be improved with better ventilation and maintenance.
The window could not be properly closed or secured. I personally felt safe and didn’t have valuables, but having better window security would give extra peace of mind, especially given the easy access from the beach and common areas.
At night, if there is an event, music can be heard from the rooms. It didn’t bother me too much, but light sleepers might find it challenging.
The bed sheets had a small hole, im not asking for luxury, having intact bed sheets would be a basic and appreciated standard.

Good
Loved then community aspect, the beach front area was nice ,nice bar and common are as well.Great location ,walking distance to the center .
The single room was not worth the price ,had a fan but it didn’t cool down the room ,and the ladder to climb up to the bed is tilted outwards so it’s difficult to get up.The front desk lady wasn’t all that pleasant either .

Poor
They've got showers, a bar fairly close to the beach, they play karaoke and colloquial songs... and its a place to crash. Cheap.
Contracting some upper respiratory infection from the tent I stayed in.

Wonderful
I like that this time there were activities all nights. Open mic and fire shows.
The observatorio room was pricy as it didn't include private bathroom nor A.C. I've been in better places for less money.

Wonderful
An atypical but very nice place. It is super well located, not totally in the centre but 10min walk and it's ok, otherwise there is a bus stop right in front. There is a parking. The staff is really very nice. I slept in the girl's dormitory it's not very big but quite well arranged, on the other hand the wifi does not work well in the dormitory. Otherwise the wifi works well everywhere. There are several activities within the hostel, an ambiance bar and the beach just opposite. There is a fountain at the entrance to drink drinking water

Very Good
The location !! ✅️ right on the beach. Close to town. I decided on a hammock as my bed and the first night I was a bit uncomfortable and also loud music ? but after that, it was perfect. I could hear the sea and it was cool
Water on tap
The kitchen had all the equipment - it could do with upgrading but ok to get by
The water pressure in the showers amazing. Also clean and spacious
Most of the staff were friendly.
Nice and quiet most of the time. Beautiful setting loads of mosaics. Music great most of
The time.
Beers only 1500 colones.
The room floor and working space was dirty when I moved in. They should clean up after each exit. I managed to get a rag, and the broom was always available to clean up. So, it's not serious.
They need mats off the beach and into the rooms to clean beach sand, but there is a tap outside to wash feet.
One fridge was broken, so we had to cram our food into one fridge, but again, it's not that bad. We made it work.
