Hidden Jungle Beach House tells you everything you might suspect about this delightful little oasis. It's carved out of a piece of jungle a two-minute walk to Black Beach and yet is close enough to walk to the center of Puerto Viejo in 5 to 7 minutes. A four-minute walk gets you to a bus stop where you can go practically anywhere you want up and down the Caribbean coast, including Cahuita National Park about 25 minutes away. Amy the host is wonderful with a detailed knowledge of the flora and fauna on the property--a veritable naturalist. Super charming place; one that feels like home. More than a mere stay, it's an experience.

Amy makes you feel at home immediately. Rooms are very small, but they serve for the purpose

The perfect haven for a solo traveller. Just far away enough to the hustle and bustle but within east reach of everything. Loved the garden, fresh eggs and animals. Amy was a fantastic host

Our stay here was absolutely lovely. The best part was that we were just chilling on a balcony and suddenly saw a sloth on the tree just a few meters away! Also many other animals. The house is only a few minutes from the center (and barely any distance from the beach) and it still feels like you're in the middle of the jungle. The rooms are basic and the bathrooms are shared, but the whole place is really cute and a very good value for money. It is also beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well-equipped and a good place to hang out. There is a safe place to store a bike. There is a hot water in the shower, not that it's necessary considering the temperatures, but still. The owner is very sweet and helpful too!
As the place is next to the jungle, there are some insects and ants and you have to be careful to not leave the food lying around. But other cuter animals far outweight this issue. If you want sloths in the trees, you get some ants.

Pleasant
Really nice host who is always there if you need something; the beach and town are really close by. Opening the door to the balcony we were able to see monkeys and sloths.
Place needs general cleanup! Just in our room we found 5 roaches, some crawled into our bags which we found throughout the time. That kind of ruined our stay especially since we don't know how many more we will find back at home. Cleanliness is an issue and if you mind bugs and especially roaches this is not your place.

Wonderful
Waking up by the howling of the howling monkeys and singing birds was just lovely and something I will not quickly forget. If you want a jungle experience, while also being close to the beach and Puerto Viejo (5 min walking), then this is the place. Amy is a very kind host.
The mosquito net in my room was in need of a replacement, there were some small holes in it. The neighbours twice played music very loudly in the middle of the night, although only for a short time, it was a bit annoying.

Wonderful
Great and unique experience sleeping in the jungle. We had a lovely balcony which looked out on to a banana plant. The facilities were great, and they were clean and tidy. Short walk to town centre.
It can get hot in the room but a fan is provided - You can also open the windows, and keep bugs out with the shutters.

Loved my 3 days there . Would have stayed longer. 5 mins walk to town and 1 min to beach yet just 50 metres from the road and it's jungle - a Sloth and Howler Monkeys were in the trees above my room to greet me. No bites at all (November). Great kitchen if you want to cook for yourself. Comfortable beds and fans. Peaceful. Amy was so helpful for any questions, and it was a good sociable location for a single traveller with only 5 rooms there and a layout that means you do see each other. Good value for money for a small comfortable guesthouse. For the adventurous traveller not those wanting luxury.
Rooms were a little small.

I loved my stay at secret Jungle beach house. Amy was so welcoming and helpful with any tips for my trip! The rooms with a balcony make you feel like you are in the jungle - I saw monkeys and squirrels from my bed. Very peaceful place, 5 mins walk from puerto Viejo and a couple of minutes walk from playa negra (which is amazing For sunsets!!)

This is the place for you if you want to be near the amazing town, 4 mins walk, but somehow in the cutest little place with a sloth outside the bedroom and lovely owner and pets.
Not for you if you are a partier, allergic to dogs cats or Chooks or too tall. It’s a quaint little dreamboat of a house with murals all over the wall and the NICEST guests always up for a little chat. Host is super welcoming and warm. Well equipped kitchen, cute facilities. Bikes for hire. Lots of space to hang your towels etc. although they probably won’t dry due to humidity.
We loved our stay here. It’s about the nicest, homiest, loveliest that ‘basic’ accommodation can be! Thank you.

The porch facing the jungle was our favorite part. The rooms are simple and clean. We loved how the whole place is tucked right into the jungle. Amy communicated well and made our stay fantastic.
