Pleasant
The breakfast was satisfactory, not anything special but there were choices, the staff was pleasant and helpful. When there wasn't constant noise from traffic and property workers it was very peaceful. Access to the beach, although a 10 minute walk, was nice but it is not really a swimming beach due to very strong waves and potential rip currents.
Over hyped and over priced. We stayed in many properties around Costa Rica over several years so we are not new to the experience. El Nido is not a "jungle lodge" it is just surrounded by jungle trees but constant and sometimes very loud noise from the nearby road from early morning to night, regular early morning loud machinery including chain saw sounds and gas powered weed cutters spewing clouds of exhaust all within the grounds of the property. The shower handles literally came off in your hands. The bathroom sink fittings looked like something out of a 1960's motel. The pavement stones that served as a walkway are very irregular and very easy to twist your ankle. My wife already had a foot injury and had to be extremely careful especially at night.

The bungalow was so cute and we loved the property! The hammock on the porch was awesome. All the outdoor seating was a plus. Having a kitchen is always a bonus when traveling.
There was a large dead cockroach in our shower and cockroach poo around the kitchen. There was a tinge of mold and the AC unit had a funny smell. Also no lights on or around the pool. It’s open till 8 and we got there at 6 but didn’t swim cause we couldn’t see. The price doesn’t match the quality we were expecting.

We loved el nido! The location on playa Chiquita was perfect (a short walk) with a wonderful restaurant on the property. It is also walking distance of a couple other places to eat in walking distance. The rooms were beautiful and spacious and pool was perfect to cool off. There were wonderful wildlife all around us! You could even hear the howler monkeys early in the morning. Oh! And the breakfast was amazing!
There was an electric outage that made us lose air-conditioning fan and light, but it was quickly fixed. These things happen in the jungle.

The place was very nice and full of nature. The room was super cool and pretty. The pool had the perfect temperature and the breakfast was good.
The restaurant was not working at the time of our stay, so we had to go outside for dinner. There is no direct access to the beach, you have to walk around some neighbors houses in order to get the beach.

The property was pretty and loved the agoutis. The beach was paradise. Breakfast was good. We stayed in one of the bungalows. It definitely could use a refresh, even just paint the walls. The room had a weird urine like smell that was pretty gross. Beds were comfortable though.

Very Good
With 8 small houses - well spread around - a quit, private and relaxed property. Excellent location to reach within 5 minutes walking the quit- and best part of Playa Chiquita. The property also offers a free breakfast at the location. Furthermore by walking a short distance restaurants and supermarkets can be reached and Puerto Viejo within 10 minutes by car. Good wifi.
Shower facilities are not perfect but team helpful to solve the pressure-, hot-, and cold water issues. Could not see the floor of the pool so needed some more regular cleaning I suppose.

The location within a 3 minute walk to the beach was excellent. The pool was very clean. The gardens were lovely with many birds, butterflies, iguanas and Agoutis. There are 3/4 excellent restaurants within a 2 minute walk and a few sodas for coffee and snacks all within easy walking distance. Lucia the receptionist was very friendly and helpful with advice about beaches and tours in the area. The on site restaurant is excellent for pizza.
The bedding tho very clean looks due for renewal as it was a little faded. A minor point but it would make that first impression even better.
