Location, personal guidance from lovely host. The gardens are beautiful, it’s a short walk to watch the sunrise on the beach. The outside porch has a cooktop and French press for a quick meal and a hammock you can relax after a fun day of exploration. Bed was quite comfortable.

The cabins are away from the busy city area if you’re looking for a spot in the rainforest. The hosts are very friendly and detail oriented. Everything was clean upon arrival and the cleaner cleaned one room.
The property is very nice with 3 cabins. Please be aware that the cabin Terezza with 2 people is shared with another cabin. As a result, you can hear every single word and noise coming from the other side of the wall. unfortunately, the people we were sharing with had two small children so in the morning at 6am it was so loud.. I would advise for you to book the 3 or 4 person cabin so you have your own space and privacy without having to listen to other people, so you can fully enjoy the space and the amazing surrounding nature. Otherwise, the place is good. I would advise the owner to not rent out this particular cabin to two different groups. thank you!

Wonderful
A great place to stay. Beautiful garden, a great hostess! A nice outdoor kitchen! Lots of birds, trees, flowers, and even s sloth! We can walk to the beach and to the grocery store.
The walls are very thin so we could hear our very loud neighbor who talked on the phone all night. However, we let the hostess knows and she enforces quiet hours. Do let her know if you hear too much noise. She is super helpful.

I did not like the place
I had high expectations, I thought the pictures on booking were the place I was renting, NO, ITS NOT A HOUSE, its a very small room right next to a wood house, room its small and you can hear the people on the main wood house talking specially at night when you re trying to sleep and rest, the place its not located close to Puerto Viejo town and you definitely need a car to go there. No relation between the place and the price I pay (I pay 105 dollars for two nights), No, that place does not worth that amount of money. I have been traveling to Puerto Viejo for many years, stayed in different airbnbs, hotels and rooms and this is the firts one I am not leaving with a happy experience.

There's some construction going on next door that starts at sunrise! That can be a little rough on the sleep schedule.

We had a front porch and path to our cabin.
The manager did not tell us ahead of time that we could not charge our electric scooter at the cabin...and that was our only transportation to get around town. They also did not tell us that there is construction going on, so it was loud from 7am -5pm, and I could not work online comfortably. The cabins are too close together and you can hear your neighbors alarm clocks and movement. One of the neighbors trespassed onto our property, banged on our walls early in the morning, and was belligerent. They claim that there is hot water, but it's barely warm and uncomfortable to take showers on cold, rainy days.

This is a beautiful location surrounded by incredible fauna and flora. It is secluded so it is much more quiet than the center of Puerto Viejo and the beaches are not crowded. It is very close to Playa Negra, only a 3 minute walk. I stayed in Casa Chiquita and it was the perfect size for a solo traveler. Maria was an incredibly gracious host and very accommodating. I did not have a rental car and she was able to recommend a taxi service for a day trip to Cahuita. This made for a very tranquil vacation.
As mentioned in other reviews, there is currently construction next door. The noise didn't bother me and it can't really be helped anyways. However, the workers did catcall me several times during my stay while I walked to and from my cabin. There is also an outdoor shower that you must use to wash off sand before entering your house and I noticed they were watching me as I showered. I did not complain about this during my stay as I never felt unsafe, but it is definitely something to be vigilant of, especially if you're a woman traveling alone.

Hosts were really helpful and gave us some great recommendations. Stayed in Casa Chiqueta which was perfect and had everything we needed.
Unfortunately the construction works next door were very loud from 7.00am - 4.00pm each day. No fault of the establishment, but did impact on the ambiance.

It had everything we needed, even though it was far from luxurious. The Wi-Fi was okay, which is not guaranteed in Puerto Viejo. The hosts were amazing! Made you feel very welcome!
Thin walls, so you definitely need earplugs here. There’s a construction work next to the property, unfortunately they did some loud work during our stay.

The property is wonderful and tranquil with a true garden feel, close enough to town but far enough not to notice. The casitas are beautiful with tons of wood throughout and are quite comfortable and private. The hosts are wonderful and very helpful to make sure you have the best possible visit but they don't hover over you, yet are very responsive if you ever need anything! The beach is an easy walk away and there is always wildlife around, a true paradise! (Early risers can hear the local howler monkeys and the waves crashing at 5 AM with morning coffee)

A very temporary dislike. A new house was under construction next door, The workers were not that loud, but it was a slight distraction at times. It looked like they were almost finished so this should not prevent anyone from choosing this property.

no soundproofing, so we could hear every word the people next to us said, like they were in the same room and unfortunately their children were restless, so it wasn’t as peaceful as we would have liked.

this place is peaceful and so close to a beautiful beach! I like that there is a small market just down the road where you can get essentials (and good coffee!) without having to deal with the busy town. my favorite thing though is there’s a little kitty that seems to belong to the property. I loved having her around. she even caught bugs

Location was fantastic.. Own garden, lots of wildlife, the hosts Paolo and Romina were brilliant, informative, friendly and very helpful whenever we needed anything.. The beach is only a 5 minute walk away and puerta viejo restaurants and shops a 5 minute drive... A very enjoyable, relaxing stay
