If you're taking your pet beware there are tiny spaces where they could get lost, also the gate has a hole where they could pass through.

No TV in the room.

Wasn’t a fan of the ball that was being tossed around upstairs. Mean it ended at a decent hour I was just kind of annoying and I suggest maybe getting a lamp on the side table would be great.

You cannot drink the tap water (which you can elsewhere in Costa Rica).

All was well. I did notice a nice wooden bench along the entrance path to my cabina that appeared broken. Perhaps repair and repaint it to provide a cozy rest and reading area for guests underneath the beautiful ceiba tree.

You can hear every thing outside the house. That’s because at the top of the bedroom there’s no windows only a mosquito screen so if you have noisy neighbors you are not going to sleep very well.

Stayed in the one-bedroom house. What was unexpected was the lack of a solid front door. This is a beach hut with a veranda that has the kitchen / living area. The front door is the curtains shown in the picture. This by itself is not the issue - and it would not have been had the hosts made that clear on the website for Chilamate but they do not. And at this writing, they have not updated the information even though we spoke to the host and explained our disappointment before leaving and she said they would update the description. The issue is that curtains do not keep mosquitoes out, nor do they keep the stray cat that roams around the property out of the kitchen, or the ants and other bugs. There is a door closing off the bedroom but there is no seal on the bottom so AC takes a long time to cool the room. If you intend to stay here and will not cook or have food laying around on the counter or mind cats helping themselves (and there is no storage to put things into) or is allergic to cats or mind mosquitoes, then you may like this place. The host did say they are planning to enclose the unit in the future……I guess things are always possible.
