Giorgio was a phenomenal host. He was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The rooms and amenities were great. We loved the open air feel. The large fan helped keep us cool at night.

The place was pretty good, the bed was comfortable, there was air conditioning... The wifi is decent in case you need to work. Also the property is beautiful, there's plenty of nature.
If you're taking your pet beware there are tiny spaces where they could get lost, also the gate has a hole where they could pass through.

It was picture perfect! Super clean cabins, feels like you’re in the heart of the jungle! Owner very nice and accommodating. It was the perfect place to chill after running around all day!
Wasn’t a fan of the ball that was being tossed around upstairs. Mean it ended at a decent hour I was just kind of annoying and I suggest maybe getting a lamp on the side table would be great.

Beautiful house very close to playa negra (walk 3minutes). Aircon is great and bathrooms are beautiful. (There is no front door, the living is open to the outside, the lock is on the bedroom door).
You cannot drink the tap water (which you can elsewhere in Costa Rica).

Fantastic little house. Clean. Met the caretaker and he was great. Good location, minutes from the bus, beach (playa negra). Also has a local store at the end of the street. 10 min walk into town

I loved the location on Casa Amma Road, as I have stayed in that general area and even in that road many times for over 20 years now. It is the best location for me. The cabina was clean and airy. I appreciated the tipico open-air design combined with an enclosed bedroom with AC. The cabina was pretty, kitchen well equipped and the curtains around the open portion of the house were a nice touch for privacy.
All was well. I did notice a nice wooden bench along the entrance path to my cabina that appeared broken. Perhaps repair and repaint it to provide a cozy rest and reading area for guests underneath the beautiful ceiba tree.

The manager was so nice. If you need something he will solve it for you.
You can hear every thing outside the house. That’s because at the top of the bedroom there’s no windows only a mosquito screen so if you have noisy neighbors you are not going to sleep very well.

Fabulous property in a beautiful forest setting. 2mins from the blackest yet softest sand. The nicest and most helpful host. Sent on food and transport options as well as Mexico options for my friends going there next.

A nice and quiet place, 200 m away from the beach playa negra and if you walk, round about 25 minutes to puerto viejo. Giorgio was very helpful and a really friendly guy. We enjoyed our stay!

The eco design with the outdoor kitchen and sitting area. We had fun cat visitors. An easy walk to Negra Beach.
A small coffee table would be a nice addition.

Location and proximity to beach
Stayed in the one-bedroom house. What was unexpected was the lack of a solid front door. This is a beach hut with a veranda that has the kitchen / living area. The front door is the curtains shown in the picture. This by itself is not the issue - and it would not have been had the hosts made that clear on the website for Chilamate but they do not. And at this writing, they have not updated the information even though we spoke to the host and explained our disappointment before leaving and she said they would update the description. The issue is that curtains do not keep mosquitoes out, nor do they keep the stray cat that roams around the property out of the kitchen, or the ants and other bugs. There is a door closing off the bedroom but there is no seal on the bottom so AC takes a long time to cool the room. If you intend to stay here and will not cook or have food laying around on the counter or mind cats helping themselves (and there is no storage to put things into) or is allergic to cats or mind mosquitoes, then you may like this place. The host did say they are planning to enclose the unit in the future……I guess things are always possible.
