That you can see the ocean from the apartment. The apartment has potential.
It is a bit run down and needs maintenance. Many things are broken: the bathroom window, the towel rack, kitchen cupboards, the light fixture in the bathroom is extremely rusty. The apartment could have been cleaner. There were many hairs lying around, especially in the bathroom. It needs paint and maintenance in general.
We had to take out our garbage after our stay which I had never seen before.
The place has a lot of potential, but it needs to be taken care of.

Disappointing
On the quiet side of the island and with great beach views! We loved the restaurant nearby and the easy access to both sides of the island. Everyone on the property was very friendly and our kids loved the great pool!
The apartment was in pretty bad disrepair. You could tell that it had been hit hard by the hurricane a few years ago. The internet, power, and hot water weren't very reliable. There was no hand soap in any of the bathrooms and the local host wasn't interested in getting us any. We had to take the bus to the north to get hand soap. There were no groceries stores nearby, so you'll need to ride the bus or rent a mule (recommended).

Very Good
The location is the best part of South End Villas. You are literally on the southern most tip of the island. It is not crowded at all. The Villas are clean and the grounds are well maintained. The pool was large and the water warm. The view was really fantastic. Our baloney looked out over the ocean and it was very romantic. We loved the hammocks that you could use either inside or outside the apartment. All the appliances worked and the rooms were air conditioned.
As far as the Villas were concerned, I would recommend them with this caveat: If you are a "high maintenance" traveller you will not be happy. If you can put up with a little bit of inconvenience, the positives far outweigh the negatives. One thing I will add--and this has nothing to do with the Villas--is that the beaches on San Andreas were nothing like I expected. There is a small, and I mean tiny, stretch of beach in front of the hotel (across the street). Maybe 6 - 8 feet of sand. I had expected wider beaches, but those are really nowhere to be found anywhere on the island except on the north end and those are so crowded it is not worth going. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
The beds were not very comfortable and we had to push two single beds together to form a double/queen sized bed in the master bedroom. Not that you really need it, but I am not sure there was hot water. It's so hot and humid on the island that the cool shower always felt good. The wifi was erratic. Many times it would go off or be unavailable. Sometimes the staff could turn on a generator and get it working again.

Disappointing
Great view, good facilities, garden well taken care of, secluded location, restaurant nearby
The room was quite dirty on arrival, the kitchen was not functional (on top of someone leaving the oven and stove on), the place seemed quite neglected with a lot of details that could be easily fixed such as lack of toilet seat, tape on walls, a dirty microwave. On top of that, last night on the property we spent trying to escape a flying termite attack - our room was full of bugs dead and alive and so was the pool and the corridors, it was unpleasant to say the least, as the entire balcony and rooms were covered in flying termites and their wings, despite having doors and windows closed.
