Poor
The staff were responsive and friendly when asked for towels and toilet paper. Neighborhood location out of the way of the central district. Lovely balcony for sitting outside.
Biggest issue was payment. Owner requested payment in cash when we arrived. Booking had provided a price in Columbian pesos and US dollars. We were told US$ would be accepted. However when asked to pay at checkout the price in US$ had increased significantly over the booking.com quote. The owner claimed she did not know about the booking.com quote and gave us the latest conversion rate, which was terrible and did not match the rate we were getting from other businesses. Lots of last minute back and forth with us paying by credit card in pesos at my bank rate. Recommend confirming US$ Rate at booking and paying up front. Other issues: no hot water, very uncomfortable bed, hot plate did not work, we had to sweep room upon arrival due to all the sand, and very noisy. You will need to have transportation unless you don't mind walking a mile or so to main area.

Exceptional
The Casona La Carolina is a 15-minute walk from the airport (no need for a taxi). Easy to get (end of the street). Quiet neighbourhood. The Host (Carolina) was waiting to welcome and provided the keys and was available through WhatsApp with support throughout the entire stay (very helpful!). The huge apartment has a beautiful view of the garden and the sea. You can have breakfast or dinner on the big terrace, watching lizards (at a safe distance) atop the trees (see picture)!
More kitchen stuff will make the cooking more convenient :)

The spacious room with all the amenities. The fact that our room had sunshine only in the morning, the pool and the garden, the kindness of our hosts. We highly recommend this comfortable place perfect for couples and families. 10 minutes walk from the beach and center with shops and restaurants.
