Makao Beach Hotel is in a great location. Just a few meters from the sea. You can hear the waves 24/7. Its a very relaxing experience for those looking to scape from the concrete jungle. The meals they prepare are quite nice and prices are fair. All the staff is very friendly, especially Luis at the counter, he is always willing to help you in everything you need.
As in every tropical place, you have to expect a lot of mosquitos. Hence, always bring a good repellent with you.

Beautiful private beach I had the room right in front of the beach over there Bar. Very quiet and the view is magnificent. Theres a beautiful sunrise from the beach.
Not that they can control it, but theres a lot of dogs there on the beach. I love dogs, so no problem but they get a little aggressive with each other.

The hotel staff were some of the nicest people Ive ever met. We were welcomed with a refreshing watermelon drink when we checked in. The entire property is beautiful, located right on the beach. I am so sad we only got to stay 2 nights, it was an absolute dream. Also, the food was some of the best weve had in Colombia!

Beautiful accommodation and amazing location directly at the beach. We received a welcome drink upon arrival and at night fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Very nice and service oriented staff. Would definitely come again!
Many mosquitoes (not the fault of the property of course), so bring insect repellent.
The mosquito nets above the bed could be bigger and longer to keep mosquitoes better out at night.

Makao Beach hotel is an amazing place to stay if you are staying in Palomino. The location is amazing. You can hear the waves from your room all day and all night. The rooms are very clean and the vibe is just spot on. The staff will go absolutely above and beyond for you. Organise any tours, taxis, anything you need. They will tailor the food menu also if there is anything specific you need.
Also big thanks to Luis who helped us out on so many occasions. Very kind staff all round.

it was the perfect hotel for our last days from our colombia trip. We could relax there and the stuff was very very friendly.
we stayed 4 nights and the first three we had a room in the upper floor where no AC exists. It was kind of hot and the walls werent fully closed so there were a lot of mosquitos. We had a mosquitonet though.. on the other hand you can hear the waves crushing on the upper floor. (Be aware they are rather loud though)

Makao is the dream hotel. It is vibrant, lovely and very special. Food is delicious, service is really good (thanks Anderson and Jesus for being the BEST) and the beach is great.

The hotel is right at the beach with no other hotels to the right of the building. Stunning views! It is a great place to lounge and read. The food in the restaurant is excellent (+fair prices) and there are many breakfast options. The staff was great and helpful, and also organised tours and taxis for us.
The water in the shower has a distinct smell of iron and also dyed some of our clothing. Also, while the hotel is objectively fantastic, it is a little expensive overall.

The staff is exceptional! Incredibly friendly and always ready to assist. Moreover, the culinary experience was outstanding!! I took immense pleasure in the breakfast offerings, and every dish I sampled was exceptionally delicious!
I found it disappointing that there were limited beach beds and seating options, and a lack of sufficient palm trees for shade. Additionally, I observed that dog waste was not properly cleaned up from the beach area.
