.The concierge team was a great help during my stay...The pool was lovely... Food was excellent..But a five star hotel should have a waiting room that is air-conditioned...
My room was not ready for a 3pm check-in on a Sunday ,I had to wait in the heat for 45 minutes.I was offered water. thank God..The hotel was over whelmed by a massive wedding...
..I used Booking.com ,my friend used American Express... She paid less and got a better room sooner and I was treated like the poor relative ..She got us on a special tour of the hotel that was just for her... We would have missed the chapel, the main bar and the Botero Suite...I just stayed in 5 star hotels in Japan and this hotel is so lacking and more expensive ....

everything was perfect the staff the food the location and the rooms.
there will be a little noise from the street. but I was able to sleep because the bed was so comfortable. they will literally change the stiffness of the bed to your liking.

the location, the history, the breakfast place is truly amazing.
Maybe i was unlucky with my room, but it was old, not renovated, and looking directly towards a path with guests passing by. The rooms really need some work. Windows could not close properly, and overall the room did not meet expectations, especially when you are paying over 500 USD per night.

Everything .. breakfast fruit outstanding .. Mrs. Lorenza the fruit lady was amazing . And Mr German the supervisor , help us with our stay and an extension to Sofitel Baru .. and made room for us for an extra night .. also the Sofitel hotel made everything wonderful for our friend’s weekend wedding. So we all felt very happy and secure to be in there . The birds of the garden made it even more special .. and the staff in the restaurant . Alejandro was also very patience .. we can go on .. thanks you again and see u again in another time

We loved the hotel! The property is absolutely gorgeous. Most mornings we had lunch out on the patio or in the garden so that we could take in the beauty of the courtyard. The beds were very comfortable, and the staff was very attentive. The concierge was very helpful and scheduled a hair appointment for me in town. We loved our time relaxing by the pool, but I think the food was what we loved most. We had breakfast included with our stay and it was exceptional. They had eggs made to order, arepas, pancakes, bacon, and other local breakfast foods, fresh pastries as well as an assortment of fruits and fresh squeezed juices. My husband couldn't believe this was the included hotel breakfast.
The hotel had turndown service and they would leave these delicious coconut candies in the room. The problem was that if we were out when they came by the bugs would come to the room and get to them first. We also had a bit of a hiccup on the last night of our trip. The AC stopped working, and it was not an easy fix. They moved us to another room on the same floor, but that side of the hotel had a very strong smell that I didn't like. Otherwise, it was a nearly perfect trip.

The noise. Very crowded hotel. The restaurant for breakfast is too small. 1621 restaurant is not worth your time and money. Lack of professionalism in some of the staff

Rooms were disappointing. Dated and lacked character. Did not like breakfast at all. Ordered a La carte and the presentation and taste were so off putting that I didn’t eat any other meals at the hotel

Breakfast: A nice buffet. The pastries don't live up to European standards though.
Pool: Decent pool area. It can get very crowded though, so people start to reserve sun beds early in the morning.
Bar: Beautiful rooftop bar with a cool DJ and sometimes some live saxophone music. Very mellow and chill.
Room: They prepared beautiful rose petals and little LED candles since it was our honeymoon.
Rooms: Very underwhelming for ~900 USD per night. The TV is tiny and probably 10 years old. In general, the rooms seem very old. The beds are comfortable though, you get down feather pillows. We slept great. AC works well.
Pool: Gets very crowded and loud (many small kids). Hard to get a sun bed if you don't reserve it early in the morning.
Staff: The staff is not very friendly and attentive. I often felt ignored by the staff. For example, you are not even greeted by the valet when entering the hotel. It's also very difficult to get their attention by the pool. Once you have ordered something, it takes forever for the food to be served (drinks are fast though). Also, they were 30 minutes late for check-in! We arrived at the hotel at 1 pm, but could only check in at 3:30 (official check-in is at 3 pm)! It's also strange that no one speaks basic English except at the reception. It was even difficult to order hot water for tea in the morning at breakfast.
