we stayed at the beginning and then our last 2 nights, alas the last 2 nights were not offered free breakfast as we had 2 weeks prior, very disappointing as breakfast was so nice, sad the coffee machine broke down, this is the 3rd visit to " The Magnificent International Hotel' over 25 years, and it was still Magnificent to stay in

The staff is good during my stay. Mate staff is also great, she comes every day to clean up. Nice location next to Xintainty. A preferred area.

Absolutely central location, right next to a few mega malls and two major subway stations. Great value for a city-Center stay!
The facilities are good but definitely not luxurious. The room fridge makes a lot of noises so we had to unplug it during the night.

We stayed in Magnificent Plaza Hotel twice in October this year. We chose this hotel because we had stayed there before and liked the area it was in. It is conveniently located onl a short distance from the Shanghai Metro. We were disappointed to find that a massive area of housing around was empty, the people gone and the buildings apparently destined for demolition. The first visit was in a Deluxe Family room with breakfast. The room, on high floor facing the back of the hotel, was large, clean and quiet, if just a little bit tired. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was very high quality. Breakfast was perfectly adequate even if the coffee machine was out of order on the third morning. The second visit was in a Deluxe Twin room that was on a lower floor than the previous one and faced Xizang Rd, hence a little bit noisey. It was tired and not so deluxe. However the beds were also very comfortable and the bedding was very high quality. The room also had two things that probably 9 out of 10 other hotels do not: 1) TWO chairs and 2) a luggage rack with sufficient space for two bags.

The hotel is on very good location. The room is spacious, very clean and has the most comfortable bed. It has great view on the city.

The property has front desk staff who are comfortable speaking English. It is an eight-minute walk to the Dashijie metro station, which can take me to Yu Garden, Nanijing East Road, and the Shanghai Tower in minutes. Even closer is Xintiandi.
The facilities are a little dated.

Pleasant
Good location as the hotel was near to metro, malls and places of interest. The view of the city was really nice as we could see the some of the buildings on the bund from our windows.
The window leaked when it rained, bathroom had old dirty shower curtain and the seals around the bath needed cleaning. The reception of the hotel was really nice, but the rooms were dated and did not reflect downstairs. The 'gym facilities' was never available and seemed to be moving from the back of the restaurant to the reception seating area.

The location was next to a Metro station and was very convenient to where we wanted to go. The staff also was very friendly and helpful.

Located in a good neighborhood, walking distance from Yu Garden and the Bund and also really close by three different metro stations. Breakfast was really good, with a lot of salty options.
I would suggest improving the overall cleanliness; nothing bad to signal.

Good location within walking distance of both the Bund and the French Concession. Good breakfast with lots of variety every morning. Massive very comfortable bed, bathroom was clean, aircon worked well.
My room key card was a little quirky and sometimes took a few goes to work. The lift always seemed to go to the top floor and then come down again. Staff spoke limited English.
