Poor
Architecture
Service was poor, we got a room that smelled like smoke and were relocated to a smaller room with no consideration for the price we paid. Fairmont Gold experience was COMPLETELY lacking and it really tainted our time in Shanghai

The staff was friendly, polite, and extremely helpful in helping us navigate around Shanghai.
The bar had a minimum fee of $420CNY. I was unable to have just a drink, as I would in almost every hotel in the world.

A flawless 5-night family stay (18–23 September) at this living Art Deco museum, Fairmont Peace Hotel exceeded every expectation. Our Fairmont King Room felt like an elegant apartment at 49m², with a super-king bed, even larger than advertised, luxurious finishes, and immaculate twice-daily housekeeping. The hotel’s heritage tours made the history come alive (don’t miss them!), and there were charming nooks to discover everywhere. Location is unbeatable, directly opposite the Bund and moments from the main shopping strip yet the interiors are serenely quiet. We loved the Jazz Bar, and the gym and pool were top-notch, but it was the service that truly made our stay: every staff member was warm and proactive, and a special thank-you to Alexander, who checked in on us throughout our stay and even arranged a private tour. The team graciously accommodated a late checkout for our evening flight and made it effortless when we decided to add an extra night.
Everything was perfect, we only wish we’d stayed longer. Tip for future guests: book a longer stay; you won’t be disappointed!

This property is not just a hotel, but a historical site that witness countless important people and moments in Shanghai. It was a colonial building locating on Bund and facing skyscrapers in Pudong. It may be one of the best hotels in China to have palace-like huge rooms (even the bathroom is as large as a guest room). Everything are decorated as 19-century classical style. Buffet breakfast is superior to be a banquet of Chinese and Western food and drinks. Staff are polite and helpful.
When I was having breakfast, a staff lady approached to sell mooncakes--a bit disturbing. The building is on Bund so always surrounded by thousands of tourists. It may be a little hard to push across hordes of people and get into the hotel. There is a famous elder gentlemen band playing inside the hotel but it needs an extra charge about $100.

This is a classic historic hotel, beautifully furnished w excellent service. An English-speaking staff that are extremely helpful. In my case connecting to Alipay, the Chinese payment system. The room was large, well appointed, and comfortable. Breakfast is anything you could ask for from any nationality of food. The location is right on the Bund so your experience starts when you walk out the door of the hotel.

The hotel is on the corner of the Bund and the shopping/pedestrian street: East Nanjing road.
When you walk out you are right in the thick of things. I was upgraded to a lovely suite with a partial view of the Bund. The care was unbelievable The staff all over the hotel was extremely attentive, especially in the club lounge. Thank you Kevin, Marjorie and Melody. I had a slight problem in my room and the care of the guest relations manager, Terence, was incredible.
The selection of food at the club lounge was good but not as good as my previous hotels: Ritz in Chengdu and Novotel in Beijing. Also the evening hours were kind of limiting. One order of eggs benedict for breakfast was brought to the table after a long time and it was cold.

Fantastic location right on Nanjing Road—perfect for shopping and exploring nearby attractions. It’s within walking distance to many popular spots and very convenient for getting around. The room was spacious and well-appointed, with luxury Le Labo bath and body products, which reflect the hotel’s five-star standard. Staff responded quickly whenever we needed assistance. A very comfortable and convenient stay overall.

Perfect location and impeccable service. Excellent restaurants. The hotel is an attraction by itself and perfectly located to both sightseeing and shopping. Outside is the hotel is a pedestrian only zone, thus do not expect taxis to stop directly at the front door. However, taxi stopping areas and metro stations are within 100m of the front door.
