Location, staff, new and clean
AC is not able to adjust down, was told 21 degree Celsius is the lowest to go. Room seems too warm at night and had to open the window to cool down. Also no lotion to offer at front desk

The location, on Donghu Lu, is a very walkable part of the former French Concession. Don't miss the park, just around the corner, where singles and couples ballroom dance in the evenings. Great selection of restaurants, of all cuisines within walking distance, while its proximity to main subway lines makes getting around Shanghai super easy. Our room was clean, comfortable and my wife insists that I mention the awesome toilet!
There was nothing that we didn't like, however we didn't have breakfast at the hotel nor did we use any of the facilities. The lobby is a little unassuming and could be more inviting, however the staff were very efficient at check-in and were very used to using Google Translate to overcome the language barrier.

Disappointing
The location. The pool was very clean.
This is a strange luxury hotel.
First: my room. I booked a Superior King size. I got a room with barely space to walk around the bed, a small window, it was gloomy and small. As the Collection has a small lobby, this meant I had no space to work in the room or anywhere in the hotel. The pictures are very deceiving. (See comparison below)
Second: I paid for breakfast. The pastries were stale. The Chinese food was good. But it was not managed well - between guests, the tables were not cleaned. One staff member was even smoking the e-cigarette during service. Like…????.
Third: the gym. Nice facility. But I visited in Nov: thw AC was off, and after a few minutes of 3-5 people in the room, it gets HOT.
Fourth: no hooks or space to hang anything in the bathroom. Where should I put my towels? Also in the bathroom, the shower had no lighting over it, and the glasses were darkened. It was very gloomy.
For 1K / day, it was very, very disappointing.

The location and the area is quieter and interesting shops and good cafes around. The room was comfortable and it wasn;t freezing at night during our Dec trip. Near to the train station.

The best thing about this hotel was its location — on a quiet street right in the heart of the lively former French Concession. The staff were friendly and helpful (though we didn’t need much assistance), and everything was very clean. Overall, it was a satisfying stay, even if the experience felt quite basic.
It seemed that some of the photos online might actually belong to their partner hotel down the street, which has a higher standard. The hotel itself felt a bit cold and impersonal, with empty corridors and a large, plain lobby. Our “superior king” room was quite small, especially the bathroom, and after four nights it started to feel cramped. A table and chairs took up space that could’ve been better used for luggage, and with no closet — just two hangers — storage was limited.
For longer trips, the lack of a laundry room was inconvenient, as the only option was the hotel’s expensive service. We also didn’t love the transparent bathroom door, which offered little privacy in an already small room. Considering the tight space, a lounge area for guests would’ve been nice, but apart from two sofas near reception, there wasn’t anywhere to relax.

The staff were all great, location amazing, cleanliness, design.
The pool and gym opening at 9:00 I would suggest if they can open earlier for customers who like to exercise early in their day.
Also I suggest to avoid using the cooperating taxi company of the hotel as I when I tried to make a booking for the airport, the app was inefficient and then I cancelled it as my flight time had been changed but still was charged as they claimed it was done on short notice.

Comfy soft beds and cushions, spacious due to extra corner. Friendly housekeepings. Bustling neighbourhood with cafes and restaurants. Walking distance to various subway lines, iapm shopping mall with Log-On/City Super supermarket. You can get extra amenities from the reception: toothbrush, cotton pads, shaving stuff, kids toothbrush set, kids shower gel set and kids slippers. Nespresso machine with 1 normal coffee and 1 decafe capsule in the rooms.
According to pictures, the extra corner should have a lounge sofa, but in my room there was a single person lounge chair with small table, another desk with chair in the corner. Not all staff were friendly.
