the welcome and check in stuff were very attentive and nice in general.
1. view of the rooms are terrible. no such thing as sea view even when you book them. claimed the hotel opened in 2019 but were merely taken over from an old hotel thus slightly dated furniture.
2. room has a very strong mouldy smell and has caused us respiratory issues.
3. the check out stuff was extremely rude to us as if we were not welcomed. failed to issue receipt as she does not know how to do so
overall terrible experience, not even comparable with other hotels in the region

The property is located in a lovely area; fairly well kept given the years. Restaurant choice was poor; due to the impact of COVID the restaurant were limited; but plenty of choice in nearby hotels.
Service was the real issue during our stay. Lets start with the restaurant (JW Kitchen): very slow service and dishes coming at different times - my wife had to wait 20 additional minutes for her dish to arrive. The restaurant had 2 tables occupied, so definitely not busy. The bar: this is located at lobby level and has a really nice view. Service again super slow with only another family sitting during our visit. Drinks arriving at different times. Drink quality poor; clearly the person behind drinks is not the regular bartender. Disappointing. Lastly, maintenance. We were unlucky to have the room key break and had to wait 30 min to enter the room (unluckyit could have happened to anyone). The bothering thing is the gardening people entering the private pool area and cutting for 2.5hrs the hedges. Pool full of trimmings and unusable. This is something that the JW need ls to program wellthe hotel was at 7% occupancyi am sure there would have been other times to do this or at least ask us if this activity could be performed.

Service was excellent, Sarah was very helpful in the restaurant each day. Facilities were clean and kept nicely. Everyone was attentive and kind. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. Would definitely stay again.

The whole look and feel of the hotel is Spanish-Mediterranean. So the terra cotta roofs, tiles and cream stonework added much to this ambiance with lush plant life. My package was a great deal : 3 breakfasts, 1 dinner buffet, 1 afternoon tea and 1 Hermes gift package. I also liked that the hotel restaurant prepared a birthday cake for me unasked for. The garden room sizes, especially the bathrooms, are spacious and grand. Spa villas are also well appointed and very comfortable.
The towels in the bathroom were a bit dirty. Also, I received a spa voucher, but only saw afterwards that there was an even better voucher in my room.

Nice swimming pool with villa, excellent staff although not many people spoke English. High praise for Rabina in Royal Begonia restaurant and fantastic Miranda and front of house team for massive help when my wife was taken ill. They were superb. A great stay and would thoroughly recommend.

I must first thank Miranda, who was an excellent help. She saved the holiday for me, and her bosses should be very grateful to her. Nevertheless, my experience has led me to cancelling my October booking in the adjoining Sheraton - which was over 13,000 RMB. I shall explain why below... but first onto the good things: Amazing location. Stunning beach. Friendly (utterly incompetent, but friendly) staff. Tranquil peaceful pool, lit up late into the night. Indeed the pool was so nice I almost forgave the hotel and returned in October... so many places in Sanya try to discourage swimming past 8pm... but alas... I am taking my risk with a new hotel. This is not a tale of a 'disaster', it is rather a very sad tale of a hotel that could be exceptional, but is deeply reminiscent of Fawlty Towers... and all because of seriously poor management who have failed to provided basic training to their employees (or pay to maintain their facilities).
So - this hotel is a building site. It is in the midst of conversion. I am sure it will be lovely when it is finished, but it relies upon sharing facilities with the adjoining Sheraton. So all feedback for this hotel is essentially feedback for them both combined.
1. Employees need basic onboarding training. I've stayed in many Chinese hotels - but when I pay 5 or 6 times more money for a 'high-quality' hotel I am shocked to receive the same challenges that I would receive in a 300 RMB per night location. I am talking about basics assistance like "where is the Lobby... Lobby zai nar?"... ok, so my Chinese is poor, but I don't expect staff to giggle and walk away saying "no, no, no", I expect them to have basic hotel vocabulary.
2. The shuttle bus driver didn't recognise the hotel name in English when I said it or showed him the e-mail confirmation, so he wouldn't let me on his shuttle bus. He didn't check his list (which had my name on it). So I found myself left alone in an empty airport carpark. The hotel apologised and Miranda organised me a free car for my return. Nevertheless, this level of incompetence is unforgivable. If you are a driver for an international hotel learning the NAME of that hotel is basic level one training.
3. Room-Service is only available through a Chinese language app. Ordering became multi-person stress. To make it easier I wrote my order down, including prices, and 'menu item number' AND pointed to the item in the menu for the waiter, but the waiter was still baffled... Throughout every meal, attendants reacted as if they had never seen the items I was ordering.
4. The rooms need repainting... NONE of the 20 or so jacquizzis work... the whole place needs maintenance.
5. Bored unoccupied staff are everywhere, including checking their phones in the pool bar... but the bar was shut the whole weekend, booze, glasses all there... and bored staff... but bar shut. Why?
