This hotel, although a bit dated, is still quite opulent and the club lounge was tops!

We were treated royally and would not hesitate to recommend this to other International travellers. The reception was extremely kind on our arrival to upgrade the rooms booked - not just my wife & I but also our children who had never stayed in such a luxurious size room. Thoroughly appreciated and a superb gesture. Additionally, reception were able to arrange twin beds for our children's room who had no interestnto share a bed. The hotel's ambassador Ping Wang was amazing in going way beyond her call of duty and personally walked us to a nearby recommended restaurant.

The staff didnt speak English at all! I struggled with simple communication. They gave me a room with a hot AC, then they moved me to another room without bothering to come and move my luggage, I had to do it myself !!

Nice room layout and fairly comfortable. Good location in the commercial part of town that's pretty quiet on most days but also close to attractions.
Had to switch rooms three times on the first night - first room had no electricity in the outlets, second the bed not set up right and had a huge dip and the third had a broken light. The kettle in the last room won't shut off so water boils non-stop until you notice, by which point I was done and just put with it. Very strange moving across four room in a row and finding issues in each single one. Goes to show that this Fairmont can really use some more room check-ups. The manager was accommodating and great to communicate with but the night and morning shift staff was either defensive or did not bother apologizing for the inconvenience of moving three times past midnight. Also had staff claim they are from another department and therefore too busy to help moving luggage or breakfast staff generally not able to answer questions of the meal selection. Service here is a 2/5 so be warned.

Good location, staff is polite and try to be helpful, free upgrade to a bigger room is very much appreciated. We paid for the breakfast and Lounge access, breakfast is more local than international, quality is average, but lounge is only open for limited hours, closed by 8pm, so kind of disappointing, cannot go for a drink after a day.
In general hotel is old and require maintenance. In our room, lighting starts to flickers and toilet flush is not working well, need to remove cover each time to flush and there is continuous water sound.. staff has helped to fix and didnt help after numerous attempts. Also in our hotel room, there was a card that says there is discount to both dinning at hotel and in-room, but when upon checkout, front desk says they are not aware of such promotions. As we are in a rush to check out, we just end up paying instead of waiting for them to check.

staff was kind and helpful. Provided lots of assistance and support for non-Chinese-speaking guests. The lobby was spacious and clean. The room was big and the reception employee upgraded to a room with a better view free of charge. All in all, very pleasant staying experience with Fairmont Hotel. Will definitely recommend it to friends.
Room service was so-so. The mini bar did not have beers. On the first day, the bottles of beer ordered to our room were not cold. Did not provide bottle opener. Also, the beers were very expensive compared to other similar star hotels, RMB 55,- for a bottle of 0.33L Tsingtao.
