The room was super cozy and clean, the host and his family were super friendly and welcoming. Food was exceptionally well homemade Chinese cuisine and always delicious while delivering a variety of typical Chinese dishes.
We were able to book admission tickets for the Great Wall with our host and got a super comfortable shuttle service to get us there and pick us up. Everything felt super warmhearted, welcoming and un-forced. We could choose the time for breakfast and dinner and always had a very homey experience.
There are no super markets close by but the Homestay had a fridge with a great selection of super fair priced drinks (Softdrinks, beers) which can be paid easily with Alipay.

The owner was friendly and responsive to all texts and emails, which made communication easy.
Dinner at the homestay was a standout. It was probably one of the best Chinese meals we've ever had—definitely a highlight of our stay. If nothing else, the dinner experience alone was almost worth the stay.
We felt safe and secure during our time there, and the surrounding area also seemed very safe.
We appreciated the complimentary coffee at breakfast and the free transportation to and from the main gate of the Great Wall.
We felt like we were being charged extra for things that could easily have been handled on our own at a lower cost. For example, the taxi ride offered was nearly 40% more expensive than booking one ourselves, and we purchased our own Great Wall tickets to avoid extra fees.
The charge for water with our dinner (around 50 cents per person) felt unnecessary. While it wasn’t a large amount, it gave the impression of being nickeled and dimed for something so basic.
The room itself was fine, but it was a bit odd that the main door opened directly into the family’s living room. For those unfamiliar with the homestay concept, this may feel less private.
The bathroom was clean and spacious, but the soap and shampoo bottles were mostly empty, which felt like a lack of attention to detail.
The exterior of the house was just okay—not bad, but not impressive either.
While we had a good experience overall, the small details—like the extra charges and the shared living space—left us feeling that a homestay might not be the best fit for us in the future. For those who are comfortable with a more intimate, family-style setting, this homestay may be a great choice, but for our family, it wasn’t quite the right match.

Thank you so much for the wonderful stay! This was such a special and unique experience to stay at a family homestay near the Great Wall. They went out of their way to help you, plan your trip, organize tickets, and everything. The translation apps work perfectly for communication! The food was out of this world. It was by far the best food we had in China! Grandma's homecooked meals were so delicious and so big...we wished we could have finished the plates, but we were so full! Nobody has to worry about being hungry at the Great Wall. The portions are so big. We had breakfast and dinner and it was the best. This family takes care of you so well. They pick you up, drop you off and just do everything you need. Thank you so much for everything!

This homestay was amazing. The family owned homestay hotel had everything you could possibly want. The rooms were clean and well kept. The shower was fabulous! There were plenty of places to relax within the hotel. There’s also a spot on the roof to chill out. There’s a small pond with fish in the front. There are lots of plants. It feels like you’re in someone’s HOME for sure!
The home cooked food was amazing and the family was so kind and helpful. They literally made our dream visit come true. We’ve already visited the Great Wall many times, and this was the best. The family helped buy our tickets, drove us to the entrance, picked us up at the end of the day and had an authentic hot meal waiting.
We would definitely come and again and will recommend to other friends!

Family was very lovely and the property was well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and they cooked a great breakfast and dinner for me. One of the hosts picked me up and took me back to the airport which was very useful, and took me to the Mutianyu Great Wall the next day and bought the tickets for me. The place was amazing and a fantastic introduction to China, I went as a solo female traveller and was nervous at first but they all made me feel so welcome. I definitely recommend this property, it was very well decorated and comfortable to stay in.

This wonderful place had the best location near the Great Wall. The host was incredibly attentive and will drive you any short distance. The food was delicious - it was served hot and there was plenty of it! The rooms were wonderful and included all amenities. Everything was very clean and we were taken care of very well!

This place is amazing! From the people that is running it to the facilities and location? the hosts were super helpful all the time helping us with the driving to the hotel, picking up us from Beijing and taking us to the Great Wall on the next day which is 5min away driving. After a very long day we get there and the room we had was absolutely fantastic and super cozy, just what we needed! The food was delicious every single time, so tasty!. We wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you very much 100% recommended!

The family was very friendly and flexible. They pocked us up from the airport and also brought us to the wall and back. He also arranged tickets for us. Communications via Wechat went really well, no misunderstandings.
We booked halfboard and the chinese dinner and breakfast were really nice!
We had the family room, basic, but all fine. We had a good nights sleep. So very recommendable. You cannot walk from this homestay to the wall, its too far, but in 5 min by car they drop you of at the entrance.

The homestay was a great location - right by the start of the wall.
The staff were fantastic! We were picked up from the airport and dropped off in the morning right by the wall. They then arranged a day out in Beijing for us- helping with ticket bookings and driving us to the city then into the airport again. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Would highly recommend!
Mattresses were thin and hard- not the most comfortable sleep.

We are two introverts from Australia, so we don't usually gravitate towards homestay or BnB style accommodation, however pickings are slim here in Mutianyu! So we selected this homestay and were so pleasantly surprised by our experience.
Staff (this is a family run business) are kind and professional, offering friendly service that isn't overbearing. We were picked up from and dropped back to the Beijing Train Station in a clean and comfortable car for a very reasonable price (it's 90 minutes each way, not a short trip). The accommodation is already inside the scenic area so you can very much avoid the whole shuttle bus situation, and we were dropped off right to the base of the climb! We recommend trying to go in the afternoon, it was super quiet as we'd missed the tour busses and the crowds who mostly arrive in the morning. Most of our pictures have no other human beings in them!
We had a delicious vegan dinner and breakfast provided with no fuss and lots of flavour. When paying for our room we also paid for our Wall tickets and add-ons which were purchased and organised on our behalf. Bonus adorable kittens and cats roaming outside the property ?
The room had a beautiful view of the mountain and even a tiny peak of the wall. Bed was comfortable and the room was warm and clean. Plenty of water and snacks provided too. Very simple room with just the bed, one bedside table, a small seat with table, and a small bathroom, but that's all we needed.
Nothing negative to say about this property, just a few things you might like to know in advance of booking...
If you have any mobility limitations, make sure you let the staff know in advance - our room was up a steep set of narrow stairs (not an issue for us). If you have heavy bags keep this in mind - our bags were carried for us even though we protested and wanted to carry the burden of our oversized luggage ourselves!
My travelling partner speaks Chinese so we didn't have any problems communicating, but might be good to have a translation app on hand if you don't speak Chinese. One of the hosts has enough English to facilitate your stay but if you want to ask any clarifying or more complex questions, maks sure you are prepared.
Pillows on the beds are traditional and made with beans (kind of like a wheat/hot pack?) not soft like a Western pillow, which was a new experience for me! I didn't find it uncomfortable, but if you have a sensitive neck or back you might like to be aware of this.

Convenient location to the wall.
We weren't asked what we wanted for breakfast. Came out of our room in the morning to find already fried eggs on a plate that were cold and a bowl of rice. The room we stayed in had terrible condensation problems. The walls were dripping with water that went onto my childrens pillows and bedsheets, so they woke up in a wet bed in the morning.

The location is just 5 minutes away from mutianyu great wall china which is the bonus point to come early and avoid crowd.the homestay is big there are fotun bed and also another bed, comfortable stay for family.the owner also will contact to arrange transport from and to airport and also send us to great wall.very nice owner and highly recommended.
