The entry, restaurant, bar and pool area were very attractive. But the promise from the ground floor was deceptive.
The food was awful and expensive. The breakfast had very little to offer and was so crowded that it was like a cattle roundup. The help were very pleasant but clueless. The entire facility, once you got past the facade, needed a facelift. Doors were filthy. The room was clean but also needed work. It had no air conditioning. We were in a street side room. The noise was intolerable and worse when you opened the window. We arrived at 1:00. Check in is at 3. No room was available until exactly 3. That is a statistical impossibility.
The last day I was on my way upstairs. People exited the elevator and, as I entered, the door closed on my arm leaving a three inch gash.
The desk ladies were certainly not particularly pleasant and others on the desk offered no help with restaurant recommendations or offers to arrange reservations. Virtually no one spoke English, but we are now used to that throughout South America. The entire experience was depressing.

Walking distance to the downtown area.
Seems an old hotel. The bathtub is not good for a shower. Water could leak outside easily.

Location was good, in a quiet corner but within 5-10min walk of the centre.
The pool and seating area besides it was nice to relax and enjoy sunshine. (I don't know if it's possible to swim in the pool)
The breakfast had nice pastries but other options were limited. The quality of they were serving was very good though.
communicating with staff in English was the main problem. Even at the Reception they could not speak English or understand it easily. I also had dinner once there and the waitress who was nice and friendly, but could not speak English.

A pleasant hotel. We liked the public spaces - reception, bar and restaurant - and our bedroom was comfortable. All the staff were very good too.
There was no air conditioning but the window opened and was sufficient to cool the room; the only problem was that the open window let in noise as well as cool air.

the rooms need an upgrade - its one of 2 retsuarnas in centarl la Serena so they have a monopoly but its very 90s and needs and upgrade. No ir conditioning which maybe fine most of the tim but not at the height of summer, Kitchen closes to early - I arrived late at 10 o'clock and there was nothing to eat or drink available like its star rating should have. I was told i could order food from outside but a a visitor to La Serena did not have the apps or know whee to order from. big let down at best its a 2 star hotel The parking is limited so there was no space and had to park in drive way. I could not move my car as there were other cars around it in teh morning

The food at the restaurant , well located
The bathrooms in the rooms are small and dated. The shower head is placed too high, so it contributed to lots of water splashing outside which wets the floor and this can be dangerous.
