The receptionist, Greis, was very helpful and polite. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
The hot water was not hot and no backup generator during power blackout.

Absolutely no English spoken at the hotel.Door to patio could not be locked. Very small bathroom but staff were helpful and did all they could given the language differences
Lack of security with locks on doors that were faulty. The hotel car park was a block away and required receiving a remote to the garage door from the hotel. After 6pm, this meant you had to buzz at the door of the hotel to get in, get the staff to give you the remote then proceed to the car park walking back in the dark and deserted streets. Probably unsafe to do this alone.

Very Poor
There wasn't anything that was likable about this place. It felt like a run-down, not well-taken care of place, and it was not possible to relax and feel comfortable there.
There was no water at times. When there was water, it never got warm enough for comfort. Room was cold and it was not possible to enjoy being in the room. I like camping and don't need luxury, but this was another level of gross/uncomfortable. No wifi. There was supposed to be wifi in one place in the lobby, but I never was able to get a signal. Nothing worked well for my stay -- very disappointed.

Poor
The architecture of the hotel is nice. The room have less appealing than the common spaces
The stuff seems quite disorganized. When we stayed it was winter and quite (exceptionally) cold, the room was freezing and we had to ask for extra blankets and an electric stove because they weren't available in the room (yep no heating). Then our toddler inadvertently locked the bathroom door, the staff didn't have a key to unlock it and they had to break in. Luckily this happened with the kid not locked inside...
Breakfast was ok, but don't expect real coffee..
The hotel is located in a bit of a dodgy zone. Unfortunately as with othe towns in Chile, the center town of la serena Is not the safest place. Beware of you need to walk after dark

Good
Lovely staff, nice free breakfast
Dogs were barking throughout the night both nights and very loudly. Our window was faulty so we could not do anything about it and it woke us up numerous times. Also, the location wasn’t amazing. We had to taxi from the bus station and also to the beach. Not many restaurants open nearby but maybe because it was off season (March) - would be good in the future if the hostel had some restaurant recommendations.

Wonderful
Very clean, comfortable and clean. Good breakfast.
One of the days we went to breakfast it took 45 minutes for us to receive breakfast. We obviously went at a time it was really busy so the other days we went at an earlier time.

Poor
The only thing I liked about this hotel was the friendly staff. The breakfast was nice with home made scrambled eggs but nothing special.
I had some of the worse sleeps in my life in this hotel. As mentioned in plenty of comments, there are no curtains in the rooms. As a result I was waking up every day at 7 from the extreme light entering my room (check photo). I don’t understand how even though so many clients have complained, there is no actions from the hotel owners. Also, as mentioned in several comments, the walls are thin like paper so expect to hear people coughing, peeing at the middle of the night, or talking. The bathroom was tiny. I also ate a kinder chocolate from the mini bar that had mold (see photo). So far I’m alive. In short, I paid 125 euros for two nights. I had better experience in free camping. Don’t spend your money there. :)

It looked attractive but was a dump
The wi-fi didn’t work, the breakfast was poor, the room hadn’t been cleaned properly and, arriving mid-evening, the check-in staff were really difficult to deal with
